Sura 12: Yūsuf (Joseph)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God, The All Gracious, The All Merciful

الٓر تِلْكَ ءَايَـٰتُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ٱلْمُبِينِ ١

[12:1] ALR. These are the proofs of this clarifying scripture.

إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ قُرْءَٰنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ ٢

[12:2] We have indeed revealed to you an Arabic Quran, that you may use your intelligence.

نَحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْقَصَصِ بِمَآ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ وَإِن كُنتَ مِن قَبْلِهِۦ لَمِنَ ٱلْغَـٰفِلِينَ ٣

[12:3] We narrate to you through the inspiration of this Quran the best narration that you were not aware of previously.

إِذْ قَالَ يُوسُفُ لِأَبِيهِ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ إِنِّى رَأَيْتُ أَحَدَ عَشَرَ كَوْكَبًا وَٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ رَأَيْتُهُمْ لِى سَـٰجِدِينَ ٤

[12:4] Once, Joseph said to his father, O my father, indeed I dream of eleven planets and the sun and the moon, I see them prostrating to me.

قَالَ يَـٰبُنَىَّ لَا تَقْصُصْ رُءْيَاكَ عَلَىٰٓ إِخْوَتِكَ فَيَكِيدُوا۟ لَكَ كَيْدًا إِنَّ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ ٥

[12:5] He said, O my son, do not tell of your dream to your brothers lest they plan against you a conspiracy. Indeed, Satan is a manifest enemy of the human being.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ يَجْتَبِيكَ رَبُّكَ وَيُعَلِّمُكَ مِن تَأْوِيلِ ٱلْأَحَادِيثِ وَيُتِمُّ نِعْمَتَهُۥ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَىٰٓ ءَالِ يَعْقُوبَ كَمَآ أَتَمَّهَا عَلَىٰٓ أَبَوَيْكَ مِن قَبْلُ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْحَـٰقَ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ ٦

[12:6] And this is how your Lord will choose you and will teach you the interpretation of dreams and will perfect His blessings upon you and upon the descendants of Jacob as He perfected previously upon your fathers Abraham and Isaac. Indeed your Lord is All Knowing, All Wise.

لَّقَدْ كَانَ فِى يُوسُفَ وَإِخْوَتِهِۦٓ ءَايَـٰتٌ لِّلسَّآئِلِينَ ٧

[12:7] Indeed, in Joseph and his brothers are signs for people who seek.

إِذْ قَالُوا۟ لَيُوسُفُ وَأَخُوهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَىٰٓ أَبِينَا مِنَّا وَنَحْنُ عُصْبَةٌ إِنَّ أَبَانَا لَفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ ٨

[12:8] Once, they said, indeed Joseph and his brother are more loved by our father than us despite our large number, indeed our father has clearly gone astray.

ٱقْتُلُوا۟ يُوسُفَ أَوِ ٱطْرَحُوهُ أَرْضًا يَخْلُ لَكُمْ وَجْهُ أَبِيكُمْ وَتَكُونُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ قَوْمًا صَـٰلِحِينَ ٩

[12:9] Let us kill Joseph or maroon him so we can have our father's attention all to ourselves and then we will all become righteous people.

قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ لَا تَقْتُلُوا۟ يُوسُفَ وَأَلْقُوهُ فِى غَيَـٰبَتِ ٱلْجُبِّ يَلْتَقِطْهُ بَعْضُ ٱلسَّيَّارَةِ إِن كُنتُمْ فَـٰعِلِينَ ١٠

[12:10] A spokesman among them said, let us not kill Joseph and let us throw him into the abyss of the well; so that some caravan may pick him up, if this is what you wish to do.

قَالُوا۟ يَـٰٓأَبَانَا مَا لَكَ لَا تَأْمَ۫نَّا عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَنَـٰصِحُونَ ١١

[12:11] They said, O our father, why do you not trust us with Joseph, when we can be his mentors?

أَرْسِلْهُ مَعَنَا غَدًا يَرْتَعْ وَيَلْعَبْ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَـٰفِظُونَ ١٢

[12:12] Send him with us tomorrow to run around and play while we surely stand guarding him.

قَالَ إِنِّى لَيَحْزُنُنِىٓ أَن تَذْهَبُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَأَخَافُ أَن يَأْكُلَهُ ٱلذِّئْبُ وَأَنتُمْ عَنْهُ غَـٰفِلُونَ ١٣

[12:13] He said, indeed it makes me sad when you take him away and I am afraid that the wolf may devour him while you are not paying attention.

قَالُوا۟ لَئِنْ أَكَلَهُ ٱلذِّئْبُ وَنَحْنُ عُصْبَةٌ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّخَـٰسِرُونَ ١٤

[12:14] They said, if the wolf devours him despite our large group, then indeed we would be real losers.

فَلَمَّا ذَهَبُوا۟ بِهِۦ وَأَجْمَعُوٓا۟ أَن يَجْعَلُوهُ فِى غَيَـٰبَتِ ٱلْجُبِّ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِ لَتُنَبِّئَنَّهُم بِأَمْرِهِمْ هَـٰذَا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ١٥

[12:15] Then, soon after they left with him they reached consensus to throw him into the abyss of the well. And We inspired him, you will for sure tell them about this, however, they do not perceive.

وَجَآءُوٓ أَبَاهُمْ عِشَآءً يَبْكُونَ ١٦

[12:16] And in the dark of the night, they came back to their father, weeping.

قَالُوا۟ يَـٰٓأَبَانَآ إِنَّا ذَهَبْنَا نَسْتَبِقُ وَتَرَكْنَا يُوسُفَ عِندَ مَتَـٰعِنَا فَأَكَلَهُ ٱلذِّئْبُ وَمَآ أَنتَ بِمُؤْمِنٍ لَّنَا وَلَوْ كُنَّا صَـٰدِقِينَ ١٧

[12:17] They said, O our father, we went racing and left Joseph by our provisions then the wolf devoured him, and you may not believe us although we are telling the truth.

وَجَآءُو عَلَىٰ قَمِيصِهِۦ بِدَمٍ كَذِبٍ قَالَ بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ أَنفُسُكُمْ أَمْرًا فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيلٌ وَٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُسْتَعَانُ عَلَىٰ مَا تَصِفُونَ ١٨

[12:18] And they presented his shirt stained with fake blood. He said, you have come up with some scheme, therefore, I will resort to quiet patience, and may God help me in the face of your schemes.

وَجَآءَتْ سَيَّارَةٌ فَأَرْسَلُوا۟ وَارِدَهُمْ فَأَدْلَىٰ دَلْوَهُۥ قَالَ يَـٰبُشْرَىٰ هَـٰذَا غُلَـٰمٌ وَأَسَرُّوهُ بِضَـٰعَةً وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ ١٩

[12:19] And a caravan was passing by, they sent their water bearer, and he lowered his bucket, he said, good news here is a boy. They kept him hidden as part of their belongings. And God knew full well what they were doing.

وَشَرَوْهُ بِثَمَنٍۭ بَخْسٍ دَرَٰهِمَ مَعْدُودَةٍ وَكَانُوا۟ فِيهِ مِنَ ٱلزَّٰهِدِينَ ٢٠

[12:20] And they sold him cheap, for a few Dirhams because they had no interest in him.

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِى ٱشْتَرَىٰهُ مِن مِّصْرَ لِٱمْرَأَتِهِۦٓ أَكْرِمِى مَثْوَىٰهُ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَنفَعَنَآ أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُۥ وَلَدًا وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَكَّنَّا لِيُوسُفَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلِنُعَلِّمَهُۥ مِن تَأْوِيلِ ٱلْأَحَادِيثِ وَٱللَّهُ غَالِبٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرِهِۦ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ٢١

[12:21] And the one from Egypt who bought him said to his wife, welcome him to the house, he may be useful to us or we may adopt him as a son. And We thus established Joseph on the land in order to teach him interpretation of dreams. And God is always victorious in executing his command, however, most people do not know.

وَلَمَّا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُۥٓ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًا وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ٢٢

[12:22] And when he reached maturity, We granted him wisdom and knowledge. And We thus reward the righteous.

وَرَٰوَدَتْهُ ٱلَّتِى هُوَ فِى بَيْتِهَا عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ وَغَلَّقَتِ ٱلْأَبْوَٰبَ وَقَالَتْ هَيْتَ لَكَ قَالَ مَعَاذَ ٱللَّهِ إِنَّهُۥ رَبِّىٓ أَحْسَنَ مَثْوَاىَ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ٢٣

[12:23] And the lady of the house where he was staying tried to seduce him, so she locked the doors and said; I am all yours. He said, I seek refuge in God, indeed He is my Lord who has given me the best home, for sure, He does not allow the transgressors to succeed.

وَلَقَدْ هَمَّتْ بِهِۦ وَهَمَّ بِهَا لَوْلَآ أَن رَّءَا بُرْهَـٰنَ رَبِّهِۦ كَذَٰلِكَ لِنَصْرِفَ عَنْهُ ٱلسُّوٓءَ وَٱلْفَحْشَآءَ إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ ٢٤

[12:24] And indeed, she almost gave in to him and he almost gave in to her, if it were not that he saw a proof from his Lord. We thus diverted evil and vice away from him. He was indeed one of Our pure servants.

وَٱسْتَبَقَا ٱلْبَابَ وَقَدَّتْ قَمِيصَهُۥ مِن دُبُرٍ وَأَلْفَيَا سَيِّدَهَا لَدَا ٱلْبَابِ قَالَتْ مَا جَزَآءُ مَنْ أَرَادَ بِأَهْلِكَ سُوٓءًا إِلَّآ أَن يُسْجَنَ أَوْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ٢٥

[12:25] And the two of them raced towards the door and she tore his shirt from the back and they found her husband at the door. She said; what is the requital for the one who has evil intentions toward your wife, except imprisonment or a painful punishment?

قَالَ هِىَ رَٰوَدَتْنِى عَن نَّفْسِى وَشَهِدَ شَاهِدٌ مِّنْ أَهْلِهَآ إِن كَانَ قَمِيصُهُۥ قُدَّ مِن قُبُلٍ فَصَدَقَتْ وَهُوَ مِنَ ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَ ٢٦

[12:26] He said; she is the one who tried to seduce me. A witness from her family offered testimony by saying; if his shirt is torn from the front then she is telling the truth and he is a liar.

وَإِن كَانَ قَمِيصُهُۥ قُدَّ مِن دُبُرٍ فَكَذَبَتْ وَهُوَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ ٢٧

[12:27] However, if his shirt is torn from the back then she is lying and he is the truthful one.

فَلَمَّا رَءَا قَمِيصَهُۥ قُدَّ مِن دُبُرٍ قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ مِن كَيْدِكُنَّ إِنَّ كَيْدَكُنَّ عَظِيمٌ ٢٨

[12:28] Once he saw his shirt was torn from the back, he said; indeed this is your scheming, and surely your scheming is great.

يُوسُفُ أَعْرِضْ عَنْ هَـٰذَا وَٱسْتَغْفِرِى لِذَنۢبِكِ إِنَّكِ كُنتِ مِنَ ٱلْخَاطِـِٔينَ ٢٩

[12:29] Joseph, overlook this matter. As for you, you shall ask forgiveness for your sin, indeed you have been a wrong-doer.

وَقَالَ نِسْوَةٌ فِى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ ٱمْرَأَتُ ٱلْعَزِيزِ تُرَٰوِدُ فَتَىٰهَا عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ قَدْ شَغَفَهَا حُبًّا إِنَّا لَنَرَىٰهَا فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ ٣٠

[12:30] And the women in the city said that the wife of the Aziz has tried to seduce her young man. She is madly in love. We surely see her in manifest straying.

فَلَمَّا سَمِعَتْ بِمَكْرِهِنَّ أَرْسَلَتْ إِلَيْهِنَّ وَأَعْتَدَتْ لَهُنَّ مُتَّكَـًٔا وَءَاتَتْ كُلَّ وَٰحِدَةٍ مِّنْهُنَّ سِكِّينًا وَقَالَتِ ٱخْرُجْ عَلَيْهِنَّ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْنَهُۥٓ أَكْبَرْنَهُۥ وَقَطَّعْنَ أَيْدِيَهُنَّ وَقُلْنَ حَـٰشَ لِلَّهِ مَا هَـٰذَا بَشَرًا إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا مَلَكٌ كَرِيمٌ ٣١

[12:31] When she heard about their gossip, she sent for them and provided for them comfortable places and gave each one of them a knife and said, go to them. Once they saw him, they were so overwhelmed by him that they cut their hands and said, glory to God this is not a human being, this is an honorable angel.

قَالَتْ فَذَٰلِكُنَّ ٱلَّذِى لُمْتُنَّنِى فِيهِ وَلَقَدْ رَٰوَدتُّهُۥ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ فَٱسْتَعْصَمَ وَلَئِن لَّمْ يَفْعَلْ مَآ ءَامُرُهُۥ لَيُسْجَنَنَّ وَلَيَكُونًا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰغِرِينَ ٣٢

[12:32] She said; this is the one that you blamed me for desiring him. And I indeed did try to seduce him but he maintained purity; and if he does not do what I command him to do I will surely imprison him and make him lowly.

قَالَ رَبِّ ٱلسِّجْنُ أَحَبُّ إِلَىَّ مِمَّا يَدْعُونَنِىٓ إِلَيْهِ وَإِلَّا تَصْرِفْ عَنِّى كَيْدَهُنَّ أَصْبُ إِلَيْهِنَّ وَأَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْجَـٰهِلِينَ ٣٣

[12:33] He said; Lord the prison is more to my liking than what they call upon me to do. And unless you divert their scheme from me, I may desire them and become one of the ignorant ones.

فَٱسْتَجَابَ لَهُۥ رَبُّهُۥ فَصَرَفَ عَنْهُ كَيْدَهُنَّ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٣٤

[12:34] His Lord then responded to him and diverted their scheme from him. Indeed, He is The All Hearer, The All Knower.

ثُمَّ بَدَا لَهُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ مَا رَأَوُا۟ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ لَيَسْجُنُنَّهُۥ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ ٣٥

[12:35] Afterwards, despite seeing all the proofs, they decided to imprison him for a while.

وَدَخَلَ مَعَهُ ٱلسِّجْنَ فَتَيَانِ قَالَ أَحَدُهُمَآ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰنِىٓ أَعْصِرُ خَمْرًا وَقَالَ ٱلْـَٔاخَرُ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰنِىٓ أَحْمِلُ فَوْقَ رَأْسِى خُبْزًا تَأْكُلُ ٱلطَّيْرُ مِنْهُ نَبِّئْنَا بِتَأْوِيلِهِۦٓ إِنَّا نَرَىٰكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ٣٦

[12:36] And two young men entered the prison with him. One of them said; indeed I have a dream where I am making wine, and the other one said; I dream that I am carrying bread atop my head and the birds are eating from it, inform us of their interpretations, for we see that you are one of the righteous ones.

قَالَ لَا يَأْتِيكُمَا طَعَامٌ تُرْزَقَانِهِۦٓ إِلَّا نَبَّأْتُكُمَا بِتَأْوِيلِهِۦ قَبْلَ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمَا ذَٰلِكُمَا مِمَّا عَلَّمَنِى رَبِّىٓ إِنِّى تَرَكْتُ مِلَّةَ قَوْمٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَهُم بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ هُمْ كَـٰفِرُونَ ٣٧

[12:37] He said; I can inform of the food that the two of you are going to eat, before you receive it. Thus, my Lord has taught me. Indeed I have forsaken the nation of the people who have no faith in God and are disbelievers in the Hereafter.

وَٱتَّبَعْتُ مِلَّةَ ءَابَآءِىٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ مَا كَانَ لَنَآ أَن نُّشْرِكَ بِٱللَّهِ مِن شَىْءٍ ذَٰلِكَ مِن فَضْلِ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ ٣٨

[12:38] Instead, I follow the nation of my fathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. We never set up any thing as a partner for God. This is grace from God upon us and upon the people, but most people are not appreciative.

يَـٰصَـٰحِبَىِ ٱلسِّجْنِ ءَأَرْبَابٌ مُّتَفَرِّقُونَ خَيْرٌ أَمِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْوَٰحِدُ ٱلْقَهَّارُ ٣٩

[12:39] O my two prison mates, are many separate lords better than God, The One, The Supreme?

مَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَسْمَآءً سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَـٰنٍ إِنِ ٱلْحُكْمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ أَمَرَ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ إِيَّاهُ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلدِّينُ ٱلْقَيِّمُ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ٤٠

[12:40] You do not worship besides Him, except names that you have made up, you and your ancestors, when God never revealed any authorizations for it. The absolute rule belongs to God. He commands not to worship except Him alone. This is the eternal religion, however, most people do not know.

يَـٰصَـٰحِبَىِ ٱلسِّجْنِ أَمَّآ أَحَدُكُمَا فَيَسْقِى رَبَّهُۥ خَمْرًا وَأَمَّا ٱلْـَٔاخَرُ فَيُصْلَبُ فَتَأْكُلُ ٱلطَّيْرُ مِن رَّأْسِهِۦ قُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ تَسْتَفْتِيَانِ ٤١

[12:41] O my prison mates, one of you will serve wine to his master and as for the other one, he will be crucified and the birds will eat from his head. This finishes the matter about which you were asking.

وَقَالَ لِلَّذِى ظَنَّ أَنَّهُۥ نَاجٍ مِّنْهُمَا ٱذْكُرْنِى عِندَ رَبِّكَ فَأَنسَىٰهُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ ذِكْرَ رَبِّهِۦ فَلَبِثَ فِى ٱلسِّجْنِ بِضْعَ سِنِينَ ٤٢

[12:42] He said to the one whom he knew will be saved from the two of them, mention me at your master, therefore, Satan made him forget remembering his Lord, consequently, he remained in prison a few more years.

وَقَالَ ٱلْمَلِكُ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ سَبْعَ بَقَرَٰتٍ سِمَانٍ يَأْكُلُهُنَّ سَبْعٌ عِجَافٌ وَسَبْعَ سُنۢبُلَـٰتٍ خُضْرٍ وَأُخَرَ يَابِسَـٰتٍ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمَلَأُ أَفْتُونِى فِى رُءْيَـٰىَ إِن كُنتُمْ لِلرُّءْيَا تَعْبُرُونَ ٤٣

[12:43] And the King said; indeed I dream that seven fat cows eat seven skinny cows and also seven green bushels and others that are dry. O my people, inform me of my dream if you can interpret dreams.

قَالُوٓا۟ أَضْغَـٰثُ أَحْلَـٰمٍ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِتَأْوِيلِ ٱلْأَحْلَـٰمِ بِعَـٰلِمِينَ ٤٤

[12:44] They said; nonsense dreams, furthermore, we are not knowledgeable in interpretation of dreams.

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِى نَجَا مِنْهُمَا وَٱدَّكَرَ بَعْدَ أُمَّةٍ أَنَا۠ أُنَبِّئُكُم بِتَأْوِيلِهِۦ فَأَرْسِلُونِ ٤٥

[12:45] The one, who was saved from the two, now that he remembered, said, I can inform you of its interpretation, so dispatch me.

يُوسُفُ أَيُّهَا ٱلصِّدِّيقُ أَفْتِنَا فِى سَبْعِ بَقَرَٰتٍ سِمَانٍ يَأْكُلُهُنَّ سَبْعٌ عِجَافٌ وَسَبْعِ سُنۢبُلَـٰتٍ خُضْرٍ وَأُخَرَ يَابِسَـٰتٍ لَّعَلِّىٓ أَرْجِعُ إِلَى ٱلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ ٤٦

[12:46] Joseph, O you truthful one, tell us about the seven fat cows who eat seven skinny cows and also seven green bushels and others that are dry, that I may go to people, so they may know.

قَالَ تَزْرَعُونَ سَبْعَ سِنِينَ دَأَبًا فَمَا حَصَدتُّمْ فَذَرُوهُ فِى سُنۢبُلِهِۦٓ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا مِّمَّا تَأْكُلُونَ ٤٧

[12:47] He said; you will have seven years of crops and from what you harvest you shall keep in storage except for a little that you consume.

ثُمَّ يَأْتِى مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ سَبْعٌ شِدَادٌ يَأْكُلْنَ مَا قَدَّمْتُمْ لَهُنَّ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا مِّمَّا تُحْصِنُونَ ٤٨

[12:48] Afterwards, there are seven years of hardship, which will consume what you have saved except for a little.

ثُمَّ يَأْتِى مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ عَامٌ فِيهِ يُغَاثُ ٱلنَّاسُ وَفِيهِ يَعْصِرُونَ ٤٩

[12:49] After that a year comes when people get some relief and then they press juice.

وَقَالَ ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱئْتُونِى بِهِۦ فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُ ٱلرَّسُولُ قَالَ ٱرْجِعْ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَسْـَٔلْهُ مَا بَالُ ٱلنِّسْوَةِ ٱلَّـٰتِى قَطَّعْنَ أَيْدِيَهُنَّ إِنَّ رَبِّى بِكَيْدِهِنَّ عَلِيمٌ ٥٠

[12:50] And the king said, bring him to me. Then when the messenger came to him, he said, go and ask your master what is the matter with the women who cut their hands? Indeed my Lord knows all about their scheme.

قَالَ مَا خَطْبُكُنَّ إِذْ رَٰوَدتُّنَّ يُوسُفَ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ قُلْنَ حَـٰشَ لِلَّهِ مَا عَلِمْنَا عَلَيْهِ مِن سُوٓءٍ قَالَتِ ٱمْرَأَتُ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْـَٔـٰنَ حَصْحَصَ ٱلْحَقُّ أَنَا۠ رَٰوَدتُّهُۥ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ ٥١

[12:51] What do you say about the time you tried to seduce Joseph? They said, glory to God, we did not mean any harm towards him. The wife of the Aziz said; now that the truth has prevailed, I did try to seduce him and indeed he was the truthful one.

ذَٰلِكَ لِيَعْلَمَ أَنِّى لَمْ أَخُنْهُ بِٱلْغَيْبِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى كَيْدَ ٱلْخَآئِنِينَ ٥٢

[12:52] This is for him to know that I never betrayed him in his absence and God will never guide the scheme of the betrayers.

وَمَآ أُبَرِّئُ نَفْسِىٓ إِنَّ ٱلنَّفْسَ لَأَمَّارَةٌۢ بِٱلسُّوٓءِ إِلَّا مَا رَحِمَ رَبِّىٓ إِنَّ رَبِّى غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ ٥٣

[12:53] I do not claim innocence on my behalf. The soul is the advocate of evil, except for those who have attained my Lord's mercy. Indeed my Lord is All Forgiving, All Merciful.

[12:54] And the king said; bring him to me so I can hire him for myself. Then once he talked to him, he said; today you are prominent and trusted by us.

[12:55] He said; appoint me to oversee the treasury of the land, for I am indeed honest and knowledgeable.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَكَّنَّا لِيُوسُفَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يَتَبَوَّأُ مِنْهَا حَيْثُ يَشَآءُ نُصِيبُ بِرَحْمَتِنَا مَن نَّشَآءُ وَلَا نُضِيعُ أَجْرَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ٥٦

[12:56] And We thus established Joseph on the land, ruling as he willed; we thus shower Our mercy upon whomever We will. And We never put to waste the reward for the righteous.

وَلَأَجْرُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ يَتَّقُونَ ٥٧

[12:57] And the reward of the Hereafter is even better for those who attained faith and were god-fearing.

وَجَآءَ إِخْوَةُ يُوسُفَ فَدَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ فَعَرَفَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ ٥٨

[12:58] And Joseph's brothers came, once they entered, he recognized them, while they did not recognize him.

وَلَمَّا جَهَّزَهُم بِجَهَازِهِمْ قَالَ ٱئْتُونِى بِأَخٍ لَّكُم مِّنْ أَبِيكُمْ أَلَا تَرَوْنَ أَنِّىٓ أُوفِى ٱلْكَيْلَ وَأَنَا۠ خَيْرُ ٱلْمُنزِلِينَ ٥٩

[12:59] And when he gave them their provisions, he said; bring me your half brother. Do you not see that I give full measure and I am a good host?

[12:60] However, if you do not bring him to me, you will not get any provision and you will not even come close.

[12:61] They said; we will talk to his father about him and we will certainly do this.

[12:62] And he said to his two young men put back their goods in their bags, maybe when they find out once they go back to their families, they will return.

فَلَمَّا رَجَعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَبِيهِمْ قَالُوا۟ يَـٰٓأَبَانَا مُنِعَ مِنَّا ٱلْكَيْلُ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَآ أَخَانَا نَكْتَلْ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَـٰفِظُونَ ٦٣

[12:63] Then when they returned to their father, they said, O our father, barter has been denied to us, therefore, send our brother with us so we can get provision and we will certainly take care of him.

قَالَ هَلْ ءَامَنُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا كَمَآ أَمِنتُكُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَخِيهِ مِن قَبْلُ فَٱللَّهُ خَيْرٌ حَـٰفِظًا وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ ٦٤

[12:64] He said; how can I trust you with him, as I trusted you with his brother before? God is the best guardian and of all the merciful ones He is the most merciful.

وَلَمَّا فَتَحُوا۟ مَتَـٰعَهُمْ وَجَدُوا۟ بِضَـٰعَتَهُمْ رُدَّتْ إِلَيْهِمْ قَالُوا۟ يَـٰٓأَبَانَا مَا نَبْغِى هَـٰذِهِۦ بِضَـٰعَتُنَا رُدَّتْ إِلَيْنَا وَنَمِيرُ أَهْلَنَا وَنَحْفَظُ أَخَانَا وَنَزْدَادُ كَيْلَ بَعِيرٍ ذَٰلِكَ كَيْلٌ يَسِيرٌ ٦٥

[12:65] And when they opened up their bags, they found their goods returned to them. They said; O our father, we did not expect this. Here are our goods returned to us. We can bring back provisions for our families and will take care of our brother and get an increased camel load. This is an easy provision to obtain.

قَالَ لَنْ أُرْسِلَهُۥ مَعَكُمْ حَتَّىٰ تُؤْتُونِ مَوْثِقًا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ لَتَأْتُنَّنِى بِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن يُحَاطَ بِكُمْ فَلَمَّآ ءَاتَوْهُ مَوْثِقَهُمْ قَالَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ مَا نَقُولُ وَكِيلٌ ٦٦

[12:66] He said; I will not send him with you, until you give a promise in front of God that you will bring him back to me unless you are completely overwhelmed. Then when they promised him, he said, God is the arbitrator of what we are saying.

وَقَالَ يَـٰبَنِىَّ لَا تَدْخُلُوا۟ مِنۢ بَابٍ وَٰحِدٍ وَٱدْخُلُوا۟ مِنْ أَبْوَٰبٍ مُّتَفَرِّقَةٍ وَمَآ أُغْنِى عَنكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن شَىْءٍ إِنِ ٱلْحُكْمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَعَلَيْهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُتَوَكِّلُونَ ٦٧

[12:67] And he said; O my sons do not enter from the same door, enter from different doors. This would not benefit you at God in the least, for all rulings belong to God, in Him I trust and in Him the trustful ones shall trust.

وَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا۟ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَمَرَهُمْ أَبُوهُم مَّا كَانَ يُغْنِى عَنْهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن شَىْءٍ إِلَّا حَاجَةً فِى نَفْسِ يَعْقُوبَ قَضَىٰهَا وَإِنَّهُۥ لَذُو عِلْمٍ لِّمَا عَلَّمْنَـٰهُ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ٦٨

[12:68] And when they arrived the way their father told them to do, although this did not benefit them at God in the least, however, this was a private request that Jacob wanted done. And indeed he possessed knowledge as We had given him knowledge but most people do not know.

وَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ ءَاوَىٰٓ إِلَيْهِ أَخَاهُ قَالَ إِنِّىٓ أَنَا۠ أَخُوكَ فَلَا تَبْتَئِسْ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ ٦٩

[12:69] And once they arrived at Joseph's, he embraced his brother and told him; I am your brother and do not lose hope because of what they did.

فَلَمَّا جَهَّزَهُم بِجَهَازِهِمْ جَعَلَ ٱلسِّقَايَةَ فِى رَحْلِ أَخِيهِ ثُمَّ أَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنٌ أَيَّتُهَا ٱلْعِيرُ إِنَّكُمْ لَسَـٰرِقُونَ ٧٠

[12:70] Then when he loaded their bags with goods, he put a pitcher in his brother's bag, then an announcer declared; O you caravan, you are indeed thieves.

[12:71] They turned to them and said; what have you lost?

[12:72] They said; the king's pitcher is missing and whoever comes forward with it, a camel load will be his and I guarantee it.

[12:73] They said; by God you should know that we did not come to spread corruption throughout the land and we are not thieves.

[12:74] They said; what is the requital if you turn out to be liars?

[12:75] They said; his requital, for the one whom you find it in his possession, shall be that you may take him into custody. We thus requite those who commit injustice.

فَبَدَأَ بِأَوْعِيَتِهِمْ قَبْلَ وِعَآءِ أَخِيهِ ثُمَّ ٱسْتَخْرَجَهَا مِن وِعَآءِ أَخِيهِ كَذَٰلِكَ كِدْنَا لِيُوسُفَ مَا كَانَ لِيَأْخُذَ أَخَاهُ فِى دِينِ ٱلْمَلِكِ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ نَرْفَعُ دَرَجَـٰتٍ مَّن نَّشَآءُ وَفَوْقَ كُلِّ ذِى عِلْمٍ عَلِيمٌ ٧٦

[12:76] They began to search their bags before his brother's bag, then, they discovered it in his brother's bag. We thus perfected Our plan for Joseph. He could not take custody of his brother according to the king's religion; it is only according to God's will. He raises whomever he wills in rank. And above every knowledgeable one, there is one who is more knowledgeable.

قَالُوٓا۟ إِن يَسْرِقْ فَقَدْ سَرَقَ أَخٌ لَّهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ فَأَسَرَّهَا يُوسُفُ فِى نَفْسِهِۦ وَلَمْ يُبْدِهَا لَهُمْ قَالَ أَنتُمْ شَرٌّ مَّكَانًا وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَصِفُونَ ٧٧

[12:77] They said; he steals just like a brother of his who stole before. Then Joseph kept it to himself and did not reveal it to them. He said; you are really bad and God knows full well what you are describing.

قَالُوا۟ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْعَزِيزُ إِنَّ لَهُۥٓ أَبًا شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا فَخُذْ أَحَدَنَا مَكَانَهُۥٓ إِنَّا نَرَىٰكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ٧٨

[12:78] They said; O you Aziz, Indeed he has a very old father, therefore, take one of us in his place. We certainly see that you are righteous.

قَالَ مَعَاذَ ٱللَّهِ أَن نَّأْخُذَ إِلَّا مَن وَجَدْنَا مَتَـٰعَنَا عِندَهُۥٓ إِنَّآ إِذًا لَّظَـٰلِمُونَ ٧٩

[12:79] He said; God forbid if I take anyone but the one whom we found our belonging with, for indeed we would be committing an injustice.

فَلَمَّا ٱسْتَيْـَٔسُوا۟ مِنْهُ خَلَصُوا۟ نَجِيًّا قَالَ كَبِيرُهُمْ أَلَمْ تَعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ أَبَاكُمْ قَدْ أَخَذَ عَلَيْكُم مَّوْثِقًا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَمِن قَبْلُ مَا فَرَّطتُمْ فِى يُوسُفَ فَلَنْ أَبْرَحَ ٱلْأَرْضَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْذَنَ لِىٓ أَبِىٓ أَوْ يَحْكُمَ ٱللَّهُ لِى وَهُوَ خَيْرُ ٱلْحَـٰكِمِينَ ٨٠

[12:80] Then once they lost hope in negotiating his release, the eldest one among them said; do you not realize that you gave your word to your father in front of God and previously you faulted in the case of Joseph. Therefore, I will not leave this land until my father gives the permission or God issues his judgment upon me, for He is the best Judge.

ٱرْجِعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَبِيكُمْ فَقُولُوا۟ يَـٰٓأَبَانَآ إِنَّ ٱبْنَكَ سَرَقَ وَمَا شَهِدْنَآ إِلَّا بِمَا عَلِمْنَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِلْغَيْبِ حَـٰفِظِينَ ٨١

[12:81] Go back to your father and tell him, O our father your son committed theft, however, we did not witness it but we found out about it and we could not guard against something we could not see.

وَسْـَٔلِ ٱلْقَرْيَةَ ٱلَّتِى كُنَّا فِيهَا وَٱلْعِيرَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَقْبَلْنَا فِيهَا وَإِنَّا لَصَـٰدِقُونَ ٨٢

[12:82] And ask the community that we were with and the caravan whom we were a part of and indeed we are truthful.

قَالَ بَلْ سَوَّلَتْ لَكُمْ أَنفُسُكُمْ أَمْرًا فَصَبْرٌ جَمِيلٌ عَسَى ٱللَّهُ أَن يَأْتِيَنِى بِهِمْ جَمِيعًا إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ٨٣

[12:83] He said, you have come up with a scheme, therefore, I will resort to quiet patience, and may God bring them all back to me. Indeed He is The All Knowing, The All Wise.

وَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَـٰٓأَسَفَىٰ عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ وَٱبْيَضَّتْ عَيْنَاهُ مِنَ ٱلْحُزْنِ فَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ ٨٤

[12:84] And he turned away from them and said; oh I really miss Joseph and his eyes had turned white from grief and he was really upset.

[12:85] They said, by God, you will continuously remember Joseph until you become sick or die.

[12:86] He said, indeed I complain to God for my grief and I know of God what you do not know.

يَـٰبَنِىَّ ٱذْهَبُوا۟ فَتَحَسَّسُوا۟ مِن يُوسُفَ وَأَخِيهِ وَلَا تَا۟يْـَٔسُوا۟ مِن رَّوْحِ ٱللَّهِ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يَا۟يْـَٔسُ مِن رَّوْحِ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلْقَوْمُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ ٨٧

[12:87] O my sons, go and find out about Joseph and his brother and do not despair from God's mercy, for indeed no one despairs from God's mercy except the unfaithful.

فَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ قَالُوا۟ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْعَزِيزُ مَسَّنَا وَأَهْلَنَا ٱلضُّرُّ وَجِئْنَا بِبِضَـٰعَةٍ مُّزْجَىٰةٍ فَأَوْفِ لَنَا ٱلْكَيْلَ وَتَصَدَّقْ عَلَيْنَآ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَجْزِى ٱلْمُتَصَدِّقِينَ ٨٨

[12:88] Then when they arrived at him, they said; O Aziz, we and our families have suffered hardship and we have come with little goods, therefore, give us full measure and be charitable toward us. Indeed God rewards the charitable ones.

[12:89] He said; do you recall what you did to Joseph and his brother when you were ignorant?

[12:90] They said; you must be indeed Joseph. He said; I am Joseph and here is my brother. God has indeed favored us; for indeed it is for those who fear god and persevere, then indeed God never fails to reward the righteous.

[12:91] They said; by God, surely, God has chosen you over us and we were indeed wrong-doers.

[12:92] He said; there is no blame on you today, God will forgive you, for He is the most merciful of all the merciful ones.

ٱذْهَبُوا۟ بِقَمِيصِى هَـٰذَا فَأَلْقُوهُ عَلَىٰ وَجْهِ أَبِى يَأْتِ بَصِيرًا وَأْتُونِى بِأَهْلِكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ ٩٣

[12:93] Go with this shirt of mine, and throw it on my father's face, he will become a seer again and come back with your families all of you.

وَلَمَّا فَصَلَتِ ٱلْعِيرُ قَالَ أَبُوهُمْ إِنِّى لَأَجِدُ رِيحَ يُوسُفَ لَوْلَآ أَن تُفَنِّدُونِ ٩٤

[12:94] As the caravan was approaching, their father said; I certainly sense Joseph's smell, although you may attribute it to senility.

قَالُوا۟ تَٱللَّهِ إِنَّكَ لَفِى ضَلَـٰلِكَ ٱلْقَدِيمِ ٩٥

[12:95] They said; by God you are indeed still wondering as in the old times.

فَلَمَّآ أَن جَآءَ ٱلْبَشِيرُ أَلْقَىٰهُ عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهِۦ فَٱرْتَدَّ بَصِيرًا قَالَ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكُمْ إِنِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ٩٦

[12:96] Then when the bearer of good news came and threw it on his face and he regained his sight, he said; did I not tell you that I indeed know of God what you do not know.

قَالُوا۟ يَـٰٓأَبَانَا ٱسْتَغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا خَـٰطِـِٔينَ ٩٧

[12:97] They said; O our father, ask forgiveness for our sins, we indeed have been wrong-doers.

قَالَ سَوْفَ أَسْتَغْفِرُ لَكُمْ رَبِّىٓ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ٩٨

[12:98] He said, I will immediately ask forgiveness for you from my Lord. Indeed He is The All Forgiving, The All Merciful.

فَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ ءَاوَىٰٓ إِلَيْهِ أَبَوَيْهِ وَقَالَ ٱدْخُلُوا۟ مِصْرَ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ءَامِنِينَ ٩٩

[12:99] Once they arrived at Joseph's, he embraced his parents and said; enter Egypt, God willing perfectly secure.

وَرَفَعَ أَبَوَيْهِ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ وَخَرُّوا۟ لَهُۥ سُجَّدًا وَقَالَ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ هَـٰذَا تَأْوِيلُ رُءْيَـٰىَ مِن قَبْلُ قَدْ جَعَلَهَا رَبِّى حَقًّا وَقَدْ أَحْسَنَ بِىٓ إِذْ أَخْرَجَنِى مِنَ ٱلسِّجْنِ وَجَآءَ بِكُم مِّنَ ٱلْبَدْوِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ أَن نَّزَغَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَ إِخْوَتِىٓ إِنَّ رَبِّى لَطِيفٌ لِّمَا يَشَآءُ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ١٠٠

[12:100] And he elevated his parents to the top of the throne and they honored him, and he said, O my father this is the fulfillment of my old dream that my Lord has made me realize it. And indeed He treated me in the best possible way, when He freed me from prison, and brought you out of the desert, after Satan had soured the relation between me and my brothers. Indeed my Lord is most kind toward whomever He wills. Indeed He is The All Knowing, The All Wise.

رَبِّ قَدْ ءَاتَيْتَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُلْكِ وَعَلَّمْتَنِى مِن تَأْوِيلِ ٱلْأَحَادِيثِ فَاطِرَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ أَنتَ وَلِىِّۦ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ تَوَفَّنِى مُسْلِمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ ١٠١

[12:101] Lord, indeed you have granted me kingship and have taught me the interpretation of dreams. Initiator of the vacua and matter, You are my ally in this world and in the Hereafter; terminate my life as a peace offeror and join me with the righteous.

ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ أَنۢبَآءِ ٱلْغَيْبِ نُوحِيهِ إِلَيْكَ وَمَا كُنتَ لَدَيْهِمْ إِذْ أَجْمَعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَمْكُرُونَ ١٠٢

[12:102] This is news from the unrecorded history that We inspire to you, for you were not present when they decided their affairs and planned their conspiracy.

وَمَآ أَكْثَرُ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَوْ حَرَصْتَ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ ١٠٣

[12:103] And most people will not believe no matter how earnestly you try.

وَمَا تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ١٠٤

[12:104] And you shall not ask them for any wage. This is only a reminder for all the people.

وَكَأَيِّن مِّنْ ءَايَةٍ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ يَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهَا وَهُمْ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضُونَ ١٠٥

[12:105] And many signs in the vacua and matter are passing by them but they turn away from them.

وَمَا يُؤْمِنُ أَكْثَرُهُم بِٱللَّهِ إِلَّا وَهُم مُّشْرِكُونَ ١٠٦

[12:106] And most of them will not believe in God without setting up partners for Him.

أَفَأَمِنُوٓا۟ أَن تَأْتِيَهُمْ غَـٰشِيَةٌ مِّنْ عَذَابِ ٱللَّهِ أَوْ تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ١٠٧

[12:107] Do they believe that an overwhelming suffering from God will not come their way or the Hour will not come suddenly when they never expect it?

قُلْ هَـٰذِهِۦ سَبِيلِىٓ أَدْعُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ بَصِيرَةٍ أَنَا۠ وَمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَنِى وَسُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ ١٠٨

[12:108] Say, this is my path; I invite to God, on the basis of a beacon; I as well as whoever follows me. And glory be to God and I am not one of those who set up partners for god.

وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِم مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَلَدَارُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ ١٠٩

[12:109] And We did not send before you, except men from the inhabitants of various communities. Do they not travel throughout the land and see what the consequences for those before them were? And certainly the abode of the Hereafter is far better for those who are god-fearing. Do they not use their intelligence?

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا ٱسْتَيْـَٔسَ ٱلرُّسُلُ وَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ كُذِبُوا۟ جَآءَهُمْ نَصْرُنَا فَنُجِّىَ مَن نَّشَآءُ وَلَا يُرَدُّ بَأْسُنَا عَنِ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ١١٠

[12:110] Just as our messengers were losing hope, and thought that they were rejected, Our victory came to them, then We saved whomever We willed, and the guilty people did not escape Our might.

لَقَدْ كَانَ فِى قَصَصِهِمْ عِبْرَةٌ لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ مَا كَانَ حَدِيثًا يُفْتَرَىٰ وَلَـٰكِن تَصْدِيقَ ٱلَّذِى بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَتَفْصِيلَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ ١١١

[12:111] Indeed in their history, there is a lesson for those who possess vision. This is not a fabricated hadeeth; it confirms what they already uphold and the details of everything and guidance and mercy for the people who have faith.
