Sura 21: Al-Anbiyā’ (The Prophets)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God, The All Gracious, The All Merciful

ٱقْتَرَبَ لِلنَّاسِ حِسَابُهُمْ وَهُمْ فِى غَفْلَةٍ مُّعْرِضُونَ ١

[21:1] The reckoning for the people has approached, and they are ignorantly objecting.

مَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّن رَّبِّهِم مُّحْدَثٍ إِلَّا ٱسْتَمَعُوهُ وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ ٢

[21:2] Whenever a new reminder comes from their Lord they listen to it playfully.

لَاهِيَةً قُلُوبُهُمْ وَأَسَرُّوا۟ ٱلنَّجْوَى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ هَلْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ أَفَتَأْتُونَ ٱلسِّحْرَ وَأَنتُمْ تُبْصِرُونَ ٣

[21:3] Their hearts were heedless. And the transgressors whispered; is he not a human being like you? Do you not recognize magic when you see it?

قَالَ رَبِّى يَعْلَمُ ٱلْقَوْلَ فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ ٤

[21:4] He said, my Lord knows every utterance in the vacuum and matter, and He is The All Hearer, The All Knower.

بَلْ قَالُوٓا۟ أَضْغَـٰثُ أَحْلَـٰمٍۭ بَلِ ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ بَلْ هُوَ شَاعِرٌ فَلْيَأْتِنَا بِـَٔايَةٍ كَمَآ أُرْسِلَ ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ ٥

[21:5] They also said, nonsense dreams that he fabricated; he is just a poet. Therefore, bring us a sign like that of the previous messengers.

مَآ ءَامَنَتْ قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهَآ أَفَهُمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ ٦

[21:6] We have never annihilated a faithful community before them. Are they faithful?

وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ إِلَّا رِجَالًا نُّوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِمْ فَسْـَٔلُوٓا۟ أَهْلَ ٱلذِّكْرِ إِن كُنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ٧

[21:7] And We did not send before you except men whom We inspired, therefore, ask those who know the scripture if you do not know.

وَمَا جَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ جَسَدًا لَّا يَأْكُلُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ خَـٰلِدِينَ ٨

[21:8] And We did not create for them bodies that did not require eating food, nor were they immortal.

ثُمَّ صَدَقْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْوَعْدَ فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُمْ وَمَن نَّشَآءُ وَأَهْلَكْنَا ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ ٩

[21:9] Then We fulfilled Our promise and We saved them and whomever We willed and annihilated the transgressors.

لَقَدْ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ كِتَـٰبًا فِيهِ ذِكْرُكُمْ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ ١٠

[21:10] We indeed revealed this book to all of you containing reminders for you. Do you not then think?

وَكَمْ قَصَمْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ كَانَتْ ظَالِمَةً وَأَنشَأْنَا بَعْدَهَا قَوْمًا ءَاخَرِينَ ١١

[21:11] Many a community We wiped out who were unjust, and initiated after them other people.

فَلَمَّآ أَحَسُّوا۟ بَأْسَنَآ إِذَا هُم مِّنْهَا يَرْكُضُونَ ١٢

[21:12] Then as soon as they felt Our might, they started to flee.

لَا تَرْكُضُوا۟ وَٱرْجِعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَآ أُتْرِفْتُمْ فِيهِ وَمَسَـٰكِنِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْـَٔلُونَ ١٣

[21:13] Do not flee, and come back to your luxuries you left behind and to your dwellings so that you may be questioned.

قَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ ١٤

[21:14] They said, woe to us, we were indeed unjust.

فَمَا زَالَت تِّلْكَ دَعْوَىٰهُمْ حَتَّىٰ جَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ حَصِيدًا خَـٰمِدِينَ ١٥

[21:15] Their prayers failed to produce any results and We rendered them completely barren and silent.

وَمَا خَلَقْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَـٰعِبِينَ ١٦

[21:16] And We did not create the vacua and matter and what is between them just to play.

لَوْ أَرَدْنَآ أَن نَّتَّخِذَ لَهْوًا لَّٱتَّخَذْنَـٰهُ مِن لَّدُنَّآ إِن كُنَّا فَـٰعِلِينَ ١٧

[21:17] Had We intended to play, We would have produced it from Our special place, if We wanted to do so.

بَلْ نَقْذِفُ بِٱلْحَقِّ عَلَى ٱلْبَـٰطِلِ فَيَدْمَغُهُۥ فَإِذَا هُوَ زَاهِقٌ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْوَيْلُ مِمَّا تَصِفُونَ ١٨

[21:18] On the contrary, We uproot the falsehood with the truth, defeat it and completely wipe it out. As for you, woe to you for what you are describing!

وَلَهُۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَنْ عِندَهُۥ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَلَا يَسْتَحْسِرُونَ ١٩

[21:19] And to Him belongs everything in the vacua and matter. And those at His site are never too arrogant to worship Him, and they never lament.

يُسَبِّحُونَ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ لَا يَفْتُرُونَ ٢٠

[21:20] They glorify night and day without ever tiring.

أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَةً مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ هُمْ يُنشِرُونَ ٢١

[21:21] Have they found material gods that can reproduce?

لَوْ كَانَ فِيهِمَآ ءَالِهَةٌ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ لَفَسَدَتَا فَسُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَرْشِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ ٢٢

[21:22] If there were gods except God in the two of them, they would have spread corruption therein. Therefore, all glory to God, Lord of the Dominion, far above their description.

لَا يُسْـَٔلُ عَمَّا يَفْعَلُ وَهُمْ يُسْـَٔلُونَ ٢٣

[21:23] He is never questioned about what He does, however, they will be questioned.

أَمِ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةً قُلْ هَاتُوا۟ بُرْهَـٰنَكُمْ هَـٰذَا ذِكْرُ مَن مَّعِىَ وَذِكْرُ مَن قَبْلِى بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ٱلْحَقَّ فَهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ ٢٤

[21:24] Have they taken gods besides Him? Say, bring your proof. This is a reminder for those who are with me as well as for those who received reminders before me. However, the majority of them do not recognize the truth, therefore they always turn away.

وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا نُوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱعْبُدُونِ ٢٥

[21:25] And We did not send any messenger before you except with the inspiration that indeed; "there is no god except Me; therefore, you shall worship".

وَقَالُوا۟ ٱتَّخَذَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَلَدًا سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ بَلْ عِبَادٌ مُّكْرَمُونَ ٢٦

[21:26] And they said, The All Gracious has begotten a son. Be He glorified. On the contrary, they are only honored servants.

لَا يَسْبِقُونَهُۥ بِٱلْقَوْلِ وَهُم بِأَمْرِهِۦ يَعْمَلُونَ ٢٧

[21:27] They never speak before Him and they do according to His command.

يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلَا يَشْفَعُونَ إِلَّا لِمَنِ ٱرْتَضَىٰ وَهُم مِّنْ خَشْيَتِهِۦ مُشْفِقُونَ ٢٨

[21:28] He knows their past and their future and they do not intercede, except on behalf of those who please Him, and they fear His might.

وَمَن يَقُلْ مِنْهُمْ إِنِّىٓ إِلَـٰهٌ مِّن دُونِهِۦ فَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِيهِ جَهَنَّمَ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ٢٩

[21:29] And if any one of them ever says that indeed I am a god besides Him, then his requital is Gehenna. We thus requite the unjust.

أَوَلَمْ يَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ كَانَتَا رَتْقًا فَفَتَقْنَـٰهُمَا وَجَعَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمَآءِ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ حَىٍّ أَفَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ٣٠

[21:30] Do those who disbelieve not realize that indeed the vacua and matter were a single entity and We separated them and We rendered water the prerequisite for every living thing? Do they then not believe?

وَجَعَلْنَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ رَوَٰسِىَ أَن تَمِيدَ بِهِمْ وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا فِجَاجًا سُبُلًا لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ ٣١

[21:31] And We brought into existence mountains on the land lest it will tumble with them, and placed marked roads therein that they may find their way.

وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ سَقْفًا مَّحْفُوظًا وَهُمْ عَنْ ءَايَـٰتِهَا مُعْرِضُونَ ٣٢

[21:32] And We made the sky a protective ceiling, and they still turn away from its signs.

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلَّيْلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ وَٱلشَّمْسَ وَٱلْقَمَرَ كُلٌّ فِى فَلَكٍ يَسْبَحُونَ ٣٣

[21:33] And He is the One who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon, each floating in an orbit.

وَمَا جَعَلْنَا لِبَشَرٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ ٱلْخُلْدَ أَفَإِي۟ن مِّتَّ فَهُمُ ٱلْخَـٰلِدُونَ ٣٤

[21:34] And We did not make any human being before you immortal. Are you then going to die while they are immortal?

كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَآئِقَةُ ٱلْمَوْتِ وَنَبْلُوكُم بِٱلشَّرِّ وَٱلْخَيْرِ فِتْنَةً وَإِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ ٣٥

[21:35] Every soul shall taste death. And We will test you through the bad and the good, a complete test, and to Us is your final destiny.

وَإِذَا رَءَاكَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِن يَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا أَهَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى يَذْكُرُ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَهُم بِذِكْرِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ هُمْ كَـٰفِرُونَ ٣٦

[21:36] And when those who have no faith see you, they mockingly say, is he the one who is questioning your gods? However, they absolutely reject the message of The All Gracious.

خُلِقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مِنْ عَجَلٍ سَأُو۟رِيكُمْ ءَايَـٰتِى فَلَا تَسْتَعْجِلُونِ ٣٧

[21:37] The human being has been created impatient. I will soon show you My signs; therefore do not be in a hurry.

وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَـٰذَا ٱلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ ٣٨

[21:38] And they say, fulfill this promise if you are truthful.

لَوْ يَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ حِينَ لَا يَكُفُّونَ عَن وُجُوهِهِمُ ٱلنَّارَ وَلَا عَن ظُهُورِهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ ٣٩

[21:39] If only the unfaithful knew when their faces and their backs are to be covered with fire and that they would not be helped.

بَلْ تَأْتِيهِم بَغْتَةً فَتَبْهَتُهُمْ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ رَدَّهَا وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَ ٤٠

[21:40] However, it will come to them suddenly and they will be completely surprised, then they will not be able to avoid it nor will they get a respite.

وَلَقَدِ ٱسْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِٱلَّذِينَ سَخِرُوا۟ مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ ٤١

[21:41] And indeed they ridiculed messengers before you, then the very thing they ridiculed came back to haunt them.

قُلْ مَن يَكْلَؤُكُم بِٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ مِنَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ بَلْ هُمْ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّهِم مُّعْرِضُونَ ٤٢

[21:42] Say, who would protect you during the night and the day from the All Gracious, however, most of them turn away from their Lord's reminder.

أَمْ لَهُمْ ءَالِهَةٌ تَمْنَعُهُم مِّن دُونِنَا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَ أَنفُسِهِمْ وَلَا هُم مِّنَّا يُصْحَبُونَ ٤٣

[21:43] Do they have gods besides Us who can protect them? They cannot even help themselves and they cannot be protected from Us.

بَلْ مَتَّعْنَا هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ وَءَابَآءَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ طَالَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْعُمُرُ أَفَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّا نَأْتِى ٱلْأَرْضَ نَنقُصُهَا مِنْ أَطْرَافِهَآ أَفَهُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ ٤٤

[21:44] On the contrary, We have provided for them and their ancestors during a long life. Do they not realize that We are shrinking the land around them? Are they the victors?

قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أُنذِرُكُم بِٱلْوَحْىِ وَلَا يَسْمَعُ ٱلصُّمُّ ٱلدُّعَآءَ إِذَا مَا يُنذَرُونَ ٤٥

[21:45] Say, I am warning you according to the inspiration. However, the deaf cannot hear the call when he is warned.

وَلَئِن مَّسَّتْهُمْ نَفْحَةٌ مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّكَ لَيَقُولُنَّ يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ ٤٦

[21:46] And indeed when a sample of your Lord's requital touches them, they say, woe to us, we were indeed transgressors.

وَنَضَعُ ٱلْمَوَٰزِينَ ٱلْقِسْطَ لِيَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ فَلَا تُظْلَمُ نَفْسٌ شَيْـًٔا وَإِن كَانَ مِثْقَالَ حَبَّةٍ مِّنْ خَرْدَلٍ أَتَيْنَا بِهَا وَكَفَىٰ بِنَا حَـٰسِبِينَ ٤٧

[21:47] And We will set right the scales of justice on the Day of Resurrection and not a single soul will suffer any injustice. And even something as small as a mustard seed We will bring it out. And We are sufficient as a reckoner.

وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ٱلْفُرْقَانَ وَضِيَآءً وَذِكْرًا لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ ٤٨

[21:48] And indeed We gave Moses and Aaron the Statute Book as a light and a reminder for the god-fearing.

ٱلَّذِينَ يَخْشَوْنَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَيْبِ وَهُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّاعَةِ مُشْفِقُونَ ٤٩

[21:49] Those who reverence their Lord in their privacy and are fearful of the Hour.

وَهَـٰذَا ذِكْرٌ مُّبَارَكٌ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ أَفَأَنتُمْ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ ٥٠

[21:50] And this is a blessed reminder We have revealed. Are all of you refuting it?

وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ رُشْدَهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ وَكُنَّا بِهِۦ عَـٰلِمِينَ ٥١

[21:51] And indeed We gave Abraham his guidance previously and We had full knowledge of him.

إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَا هَـٰذِهِ ٱلتَّمَاثِيلُ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَنتُمْ لَهَا عَـٰكِفُونَ ٥٢

[21:52] When he said to his father and his people; what are these statues to which you are so devoted?

قَالُوا۟ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا لَهَا عَـٰبِدِينَ ٥٣

[21:53] They said, we found our fathers worshiping them.

قَالَ لَقَدْ كُنتُمْ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُمْ فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ ٥٤

[21:54] He said, indeed you and your fathers are in manifest straying.

قَالُوٓا۟ أَجِئْتَنَا بِٱلْحَقِّ أَمْ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱللَّـٰعِبِينَ ٥٥

[21:55] They said, are you really telling the truth, or you are just joking?

قَالَ بَل رَّبُّكُمْ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلَّذِى فَطَرَهُنَّ وَأَنَا۠ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَ ٥٦

[21:56] He said, on the contrary your Lord, the Lord of the vacua and matter is the One who initiated them and I am witnessing what you do.

وَتَٱللَّهِ لَأَكِيدَنَّ أَصْنَـٰمَكُم بَعْدَ أَن تُوَلُّوا۟ مُدْبِرِينَ ٥٧

[21:57] And by God, I have a plan against your idols after you all leave.

فَجَعَلَهُمْ جُذَٰذًا إِلَّا كَبِيرًا لَّهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ إِلَيْهِ يَرْجِعُونَ ٥٨

[21:58] He then destroyed them all completely, except the big one that they may have a reference.

قَالُوا۟ مَن فَعَلَ هَـٰذَا بِـَٔالِهَتِنَآ إِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ٥٩

[21:59] They said, whoever has done this to our gods is a real transgressor.

قَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا فَتًى يَذْكُرُهُمْ يُقَالُ لَهُۥٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمُ ٦٠

[21:60] They said, we heard a youngster talking about them, he is called Abraham.

قَالُوا۟ فَأْتُوا۟ بِهِۦ عَلَىٰٓ أَعْيُنِ ٱلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَشْهَدُونَ ٦١

[21:61] They said, then bring him and show him to the people that they may witness it.

قَالُوٓا۟ ءَأَنتَ فَعَلْتَ هَـٰذَا بِـَٔالِهَتِنَا يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ ٦٢

[21:62] They said, did you do this to our gods O Abraham?

قَالَ بَلْ فَعَلَهُۥ كَبِيرُهُمْ هَـٰذَا فَسْـَٔلُوهُمْ إِن كَانُوا۟ يَنطِقُونَ ٦٣

[21:63] He said, no the big one did it, go ahead and ask them, if these things can ever speak.

فَرَجَعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ فَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ أَنتُمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ ٦٤

[21:64] They searched their souls and said; you are all really transgressors.

ثُمَّ نُكِسُوا۟ عَلَىٰ رُءُوسِهِمْ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَا هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ يَنطِقُونَ ٦٥

[21:65] Thereafter, they reverted back to their ways and said; you know that these things cannot speak!

قَالَ أَفَتَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُكُمْ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا يَضُرُّكُمْ ٦٦

[21:66] He said; are you then worshiping besides God something that does not benefit or harm you in the least?

أُفٍّ لَّكُمْ وَلِمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ ٦٧

[21:67] Woe to you and what you worship besides God. Do you not use your intelligence?

قَالُوا۟ حَرِّقُوهُ وَٱنصُرُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ فَـٰعِلِينَ ٦٨

[21:68] They said, burn him and help your gods, if you must.

قُلْنَا يَـٰنَارُ كُونِى بَرْدًا وَسَلَـٰمًا عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٦٩

[21:69] We said, O fire, be cool and peaceful for Abraham.

وَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْأَخْسَرِينَ ٧٠

[21:70] And they decided to scheme against him and We made them losers.

وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَلُوطًا إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلَّتِى بَـٰرَكْنَا فِيهَا لِلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٧١

[21:71] And We saved him and Lot to a land that We blessed for the world.

وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ نَافِلَةً وَكُلًّا جَعَلْنَا صَـٰلِحِينَ ٧٢

[21:72] And We gave him Isaac and Jacob as a gift and We made them both righteous.

وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ أَئِمَّةً يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِمْ فِعْلَ ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَإِقَامَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ وَإِيتَآءَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةِ وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا عَـٰبِدِينَ ٧٣

[21:73] And We made them leaders who guided according to Our command and We inspired them to do righteous work and to observe the contact prayer and to give the cleansing charity and to Us they were worshipers.

وَلُوطًا ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًا وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ ٱلَّتِى كَانَت تَّعْمَلُ ٱلْخَبَـٰٓئِثَ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمَ سَوْءٍ فَـٰسِقِينَ ٧٤

[21:74] As for Lot, We gave him wisdom and knowledge and saved him from the community who practiced evil. Indeed they were a people who practiced the worst of abominations.

وَأَدْخَلْنَـٰهُ فِى رَحْمَتِنَآ إِنَّهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ ٧٥

[21:75] And We showered him with Our mercy, for indeed he was one of the righteous.

وَنُوحًا إِذْ نَادَىٰ مِن قَبْلُ فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ فَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٧٦

[21:76] As for Noah, he called upon Us before this; We then responded to him and saved him and his family from the great disaster.

وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَوْمَ سَوْءٍ فَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ ٧٧

[21:77] And We gave him victory over the people who rejected Our signs. Indeed they were evil people; consequently We drowned them all.

وَدَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَيْمَـٰنَ إِذْ يَحْكُمَانِ فِى ٱلْحَرْثِ إِذْ نَفَشَتْ فِيهِ غَنَمُ ٱلْقَوْمِ وَكُنَّا لِحُكْمِهِمْ شَـٰهِدِينَ ٧٨

[21:78] And David and Solomon, when they were both issuing judgment regarding some people's herd that was grazing in a pasture during the night, and We were witnessing their ruling.

فَفَهَّمْنَـٰهَا سُلَيْمَـٰنَ وَكُلًّا ءَاتَيْنَا حُكْمًا وَعِلْمًا وَسَخَّرْنَا مَعَ دَاوُۥدَ ٱلْجِبَالَ يُسَبِّحْنَ وَٱلطَّيْرَ وَكُنَّا فَـٰعِلِينَ ٧٩

[21:79] We then gave the understanding of the matter to Solomon. However, We had endowed both with wisdom and knowledge. And We subdued the mountains with David as they were glorifying as well as the birds. And We were the doer of it all.

وَعَلَّمْنَـٰهُ صَنْعَةَ لَبُوسٍ لَّكُمْ لِتُحْصِنَكُم مِّنۢ بَأْسِكُمْ فَهَلْ أَنتُمْ شَـٰكِرُونَ ٨٠

[21:80] And We taught him to manufacture armor that protect you during war. Are you then appreciative?

وَلِسُلَيْمَـٰنَ ٱلرِّيحَ عَاصِفَةً تَجْرِى بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلَّتِى بَـٰرَكْنَا فِيهَا وَكُنَّا بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَـٰلِمِينَ ٨١

[21:81] And for Solomon, the speeding wind was directed according to his command to a land that We had blessed. And We have full knowledge of all things.

وَمِنَ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ مَن يَغُوصُونَ لَهُۥ وَيَعْمَلُونَ عَمَلًا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَكُنَّا لَهُمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ ٨٢

[21:82] And from the demons were those who performed deep sea diving for him as well as other tasks, and We were their guardians.

وَأَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَسَّنِىَ ٱلضُّرُّ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ ٨٣

[21:83] And Job, when he called on his Lord, indeed an affliction has befallen me and You are the most merciful of all the merciful ones.

فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ فَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِۦ مِن ضُرٍّ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ أَهْلَهُۥ وَمِثْلَهُم مَّعَهُمْ رَحْمَةً مِّنْ عِندِنَا وَذِكْرَىٰ لِلْعَـٰبِدِينَ ٨٤

[21:84] We therefore responded to him, We then removed the cause of his affliction, and restored his family to him and even twice as much as a mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshipers.

وَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَ وَإِدْرِيسَ وَذَا ٱلْكِفْلِ كُلٌّ مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ ٨٥

[21:85] And Ishmael, Enoch and Ezekiel, they were all forbearing.

وَأَدْخَلْنَـٰهُمْ فِى رَحْمَتِنَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ ٨٦

[21:86] And We showered them with Our mercy, they were all righteous.

وَذَا ٱلنُّونِ إِذ ذَّهَبَ مُغَـٰضِبًا فَظَنَّ أَن لَّن نَّقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ فَنَادَىٰ فِى ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ أَن لَّآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنتَ سُبْحَـٰنَكَ إِنِّى كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ٨٧

[21:87] And Dhannoon, as he left outraged and thought that We had no control over him, he then called from the midst of the darkness; "there is no god except You, be you glorified, I have indeed been a transgressor".

فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ مِنَ ٱلْغَمِّ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُـۨجِى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٨٨

[21:88] We therefore responded to him and saved him from sorrow. And We thus save the faithful.

وَزَكَرِيَّآ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُۥ رَبِّ لَا تَذَرْنِى فَرْدًا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ ٨٩

[21:89] And Zechariah, when he called upon his Lord, Lord, do not leave me alone and You are the best inheritor.

فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥ يَحْيَىٰ وَأَصْلَحْنَا لَهُۥ زَوْجَهُۥٓ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ يُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَيَدْعُونَنَا رَغَبًا وَرَهَبًا وَكَانُوا۟ لَنَا خَـٰشِعِينَ ٩٠

[21:90] We then responded to him and granted him John and fixed his wife for him. They indeed raced towards righteous work and called upon Us eagerly and with reverence. And they were humble before Us.

وَٱلَّتِىٓ أَحْصَنَتْ فَرْجَهَا فَنَفَخْنَا فِيهَا مِن رُّوحِنَا وَجَعَلْنَـٰهَا وَٱبْنَهَآ ءَايَةً لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٩١

[21:91] And the one who kept her chastity; We blew into her from Our Spirit and rendered her and her son a sign for all.

إِنَّ هَـٰذِهِۦٓ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمْ فَٱعْبُدُونِ ٩٢

[21:92] This is indeed your community, a single community and I am indeed your Lord, therefore, you shall worship.

وَتَقَطَّعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ كُلٌّ إِلَيْنَا رَٰجِعُونَ ٩٣

[21:93] And they went on to cause divisions among themselves; they will ultimately return to Us.

فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَلَا كُفْرَانَ لِسَعْيِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ كَـٰتِبُونَ ٩٤

[21:94] As for the one who leads a righteous life and is faithful then his efforts will not be unappreciated and indeed We record it for him.

وَحَرَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهَآ أَنَّهُمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ ٩٥

[21:95] And it is prohibited for those communities that We annihilated to ever return -

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فُتِحَتْ يَأْجُوجُ وَمَأْجُوجُ وَهُم مِّن كُلِّ حَدَبٍ يَنسِلُونَ ٩٦

[21:96] -until such time when Gog and Magog are to reappear, and they will be coming from every elevated position, rushing.

وَٱقْتَرَبَ ٱلْوَعْدُ ٱلْحَقُّ فَإِذَا هِىَ شَـٰخِصَةٌ أَبْصَـٰرُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا قَدْ كُنَّا فِى غَفْلَةٍ مِّنْ هَـٰذَا بَلْ كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِينَ ٩٧

[21:97] And the true promise has come upon them, then the eyes of the unfaithful remain terrified, saying woe to us we were indeed ignorant of this, we were indeed transgressors.

إِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ حَصَبُ جَهَنَّمَ أَنتُمْ لَهَا وَٰرِدُونَ ٩٨

[21:98] Indeed you and what you worshipped besides God will be fuel for Gehenna and you will surely enter therein.

لَوْ كَانَ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ ءَالِهَةً مَّا وَرَدُوهَا وَكُلٌّ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ ٩٩

[21:99] If they were gods, they would have never entered therein. All will abide therein forever.

لَهُمْ فِيهَا زَفِيرٌ وَهُمْ فِيهَا لَا يَسْمَعُونَ ١٠٠

[21:100] They will constantly sigh therein but they will hear no response.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ سَبَقَتْ لَهُم مِّنَّا ٱلْحُسْنَىٰٓ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ عَنْهَا مُبْعَدُونَ ١٠١

[21:101] Indeed, those whom goodness was decreed for them from Us, they will be far away from it.

لَا يَسْمَعُونَ حَسِيسَهَا وَهُمْ فِى مَا ٱشْتَهَتْ أَنفُسُهُمْ خَـٰلِدُونَ ١٠٢

[21:102] They will never hear its furor, and they will have everything they desire and they abide therein eternally.

لَا يَحْزُنُهُمُ ٱلْفَزَعُ ٱلْأَكْبَرُ وَتَتَلَقَّىٰهُمُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ هَـٰذَا يَوْمُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ ١٠٣

[21:103] They will never worry about the great dread, and they meet the angels who tell them this is your day that was promised to you.

يَوْمَ نَطْوِى ٱلسَّمَآءَ كَطَىِّ ٱلسِّجِلِّ لِلْكُتُبِ كَمَا بَدَأْنَآ أَوَّلَ خَلْقٍ نُّعِيدُهُۥ وَعْدًا عَلَيْنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا فَـٰعِلِينَ ١٠٤

[21:104] The day We fold the sky like the folding of letters. Just like the first creation, We repeat it. This is Our promise. Indeed We will surely do it all.

وَلَقَدْ كَتَبْنَا فِى ٱلزَّبُورِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ٱلذِّكْرِ أَنَّ ٱلْأَرْضَ يَرِثُهَا عِبَادِىَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ ١٠٥

[21:105] And indeed We wrote in the Psalms as well as subsequent reminders that the earth shall be inherited by My righteous servants.

إِنَّ فِى هَـٰذَا لَبَلَـٰغًا لِّقَوْمٍ عَـٰبِدِينَ ١٠٦

[21:106] Indeed in this, there is a message for the people who are worshipers.

وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ١٠٧

[21:107] And We only sent you as a mercy to the whole world.

قُلْ إِنَّمَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ أَنَّمَآ إِلَـٰهُكُمْ إِلَـٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ فَهَلْ أَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَ ١٠٨

[21:108] Say, I am indeed inspired that your god is one god; therefore are you going to offer peace?

فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَقُلْ ءَاذَنتُكُمْ عَلَىٰ سَوَآءٍ وَإِنْ أَدْرِىٓ أَقَرِيبٌ أَم بَعِيدٌ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ ١٠٩

[21:109] Therefore, if they turn away, say, I have informed you about the equilibrium, and I do not know if what is promised is near or far.

إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْلِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تَكْتُمُونَ ١١٠

[21:110] Indeed, He knows your public utterance and knows what you conceal.

وَإِنْ أَدْرِى لَعَلَّهُۥ فِتْنَةٌ لَّكُمْ وَمَتَـٰعٌ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ ١١١

[21:111] I do not know, this may be a test for you and an enjoyment for a while.

قَـٰلَ رَبِّ ٱحْكُم بِٱلْحَقِّ وَرَبُّنَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ ٱلْمُسْتَعَانُ عَلَىٰ مَا تَصِفُونَ ١١٢

[21:112] He said, Lord judges according to the truth. And our Lord is The All Gracious, The Source of all help, far above what you describe.
