Sura 37: Aṣ-Ṣāffāt (The Rows)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the name of God, The All Gracious, The All Merciful

فَٱلتَّـٰلِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا ٣
[37:3]
And those who recite the reminder-

إِنَّ إِلَـٰهَكُمْ لَوَٰحِدٌ ٤
[37:4]
-proclaiming that surely your god is one.

رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ ٥
[37:5]
Lord of the vacua and matter and everything between them and Lord of all locations of sunrise.

إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا ٱلسَّمَآءَ ٱلدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ ٱلْكَوَاكِبِ ٦
[37:6]
We have indeed adorned the lowest vacuum with splendid planets.

وَحِفْظًا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَـٰنٍ مَّارِدٍ ٧
[37:7]
And there is a guard against every rebellious devil.

لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى ٱلْمَلَإِ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍ ٨
[37:8]
They cannot eavesdrop on the high society and they will be bombarded from every direction.

دُحُورًا وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ ٩
[37:9]
Rejected, and for them there is a continuous suffering.

إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ ١٠
[37:10]
As for the one who snatches away something secretly, he will be pursued by a powerful projectile.

فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَـٰهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍۭ ١١
[37:11]
Therefore, ask them, are they more difficult to create than all We have created? Indeed We created them from sticky mud.

بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ ١٢

While you are in awe, they are mocking.

وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ ١٣

And, when they are reminded they do not take heed.

وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ ١٤
[37:14]
And, when they see a sign, they mock.

وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ ١٥
[37:15]
And they say; this is nothing but clear magic.

أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ ١٦
[37:16]
When we die, and become dust and bones, will we be resurrected-

قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَ ١٨
[37:18]
Say, definitely, and you will be forced.

فَإِنَّمَا هِىَ زَجْرَةٌ وَٰحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ ١٩
[37:19]
Then it will be a single blow while they are waiting.

وَقَالُوا۟ يَـٰوَيْلَنَا هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلدِّينِ ٢٠
[37:20]
They will say, woe to us, this is the Day of Faith.

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ٢١
[37:21]
This is the day of reckoning that you used to deny.

ٱحْشُرُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْبُدُونَ ٢٢

Summon the unjust together with their spouses and what they used to worship -

مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ2099476 فَٱهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ٢٣
[37:23]
-besides God2099476, then lead them to the path of the Inferno.

وَقِفُوهُمْ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَ ٢٤
[37:24]
Stop them, indeed they will be asked,-

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ ٢٥
[37:25]
-why do you not help each other?

بَلْ هُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ ٢٦
[37:26]
No way, on that day they will strive for peace.

وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ ٢٧
[37:27]
And they turn to one another wondering-

قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ ٱلْيَمِينِ ٢٨
[37:28]
-they say; indeed you were the ones who came to us acting so holy.

قَالُوا۟ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ ٢٩
[37:29]
They say; no you, yourselves were not faithful.

وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَـٰنٍۭ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا طَـٰغِينَ ٣٠
[37:30]
And we had no power over you. No, it was you who were transgressing people.

فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ ٣١

Now, our Lord's promise has been fulfilled for us, we indeed have to taste it.

فَأَغْوَيْنَـٰكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَـٰوِينَ ٣٢
[37:32]
We misled you, because we were indeed misled ourselves.

فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِى ٱلْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ ٣٣
[37:33]
Therefore, surely on that day they all share in the suffering.

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ٣٤
[37:34]
We thus deal with the guilty.

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهُ2100477 يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ ٣٥

This is indeed because when they were told; "There is no god except God2100477", they turned arrogant.

وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓا۟ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُونٍۭ ٣٦

And they say; should we abandon our gods for the sake of a crazy poet?

بَلْ جَآءَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ٣٧
[37:37]
On the contrary, he has brought the truth and he has confirmed the messengers.

إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلْأَلِيمِ ٣٨
[37:38]
You will surely endure the painful suffering.

وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ٣٩
[37:39]
And you will be repaid exactly for what you did.

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ2101478 ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ ٤٠

Exempted are God2101478's servants who are devoted purely to Him.

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُومٌ ٤١

For them, there is a specific provision.

فَوَٰكِهُ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ ٤٢
[37:42]
There will be fruits and they will be honored-

عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَ ٤٤
[37:44]
On luxurious furnishings, they will be neighbors.

يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍۭ ٤٥
[37:45]
They will be readily served with a cup filled from a pure spring.

بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ ٤٦
[37:46]
Clear drinks with delicious taste for the drinkers.

لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ ٤٧
[37:47]
Never polluted, and never runs out.

وَعِندَهُمْ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ عِينٌ ٤٨
[37:48]
And beside them will be beautiful companions.

كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ ٤٩
[37:49]
They are like a protected egg.

فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ ٥٠
[37:50]
As they turn to one another wondering, -

قَالَ قَآئِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّى كَانَ لِى قَرِينٌ ٥١
[37:51]
-one of them says, indeed I used to have a friend.

يَقُولُ أَءِنَّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَ ٥٢
[37:52]
He used to say; are you really telling the truth-

أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ ٥٣
[37:53]
-that when we die and become dust and bones, we will be held accountable?

قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ ٥٤
[37:54]
He said; do you wish to take a look?

فَٱطَّلَعَ فَرَءَاهُ فِى سَوَآءِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ٥٥
[37:55]
Once he looks, he sees him in the midst of the Inferno.

قَالَ تَٱللَّهِ2102479 إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ ٥٦
[37:56]
He said; by God2102479, you almost diverted me.

وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّى لَكُنتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُحْضَرِينَ ٥٧
[37:57]
If it were not for the blessing of my Lord, I would have been definitely there.

أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ ٥٨
[37:58]
Do you still maintain that we never die,-

إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا ٱلْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ ٥٩
[37:59]
-that we only die once, and we will never suffer?

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ ٦٠

This is truly the greatest triumph.

لِمِثْلِ هَـٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ ٱلْعَـٰمِلُونَ ٦١

For the likes of this, every worker shall work.

أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ ٱلزَّقُّومِ ٦٢

Is this better or the tree of bitterness?

إِنَّا جَعَلْنَـٰهَا فِتْنَةً لِّلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ٦٣
[37:63]
We indeed created it as a torment for the unjust.

إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِىٓ أَصْلِ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ٦٤
[37:64]
Indeed it is a tree that grows in the midst of the Inferno.

طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ ٦٥
[37:65]
Its blossoms are like heads of demons.

فَإِنَّهُمْ لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ ٦٦
[37:66]
Then they will eat from it and they fill their bellies.

ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ ٦٧
[37:67]
Then they top it off with a hellish drink.

ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ ٦٨

Afterwards, they continue to suffer the Inferno.

إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا۟ ءَابَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ ٦٩

They indeed found their fathers astray.

فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ ٧٠
[37:70]
Therefore, they followed their footsteps.

وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ٧١
[37:71]
And indeed before them, many of the previous generations had gone astray.

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ ٧٢
[37:72]
In spite of the fact that We indeed sent to them warners.

فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ ٧٣

Therefore, observe the consequences for those who were warned.

إِلَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ2103480 ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ ٧٤

Exempted are God2103480's servants who are purely devoted to Him.

وَلَقَدْ نَادَىٰنَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ ٱلْمُجِيبُونَ ٧٥
[37:75]
And surely Noah called upon Us and We are the best responder.

وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٧٦
[37:76]
And We saved him and his family from the great disaster.

وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ ٧٧
[37:77]
And made his progeny lasting.

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ٧٨
[37:78]
And We preserved their history for the subsequent generations.

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ فِى ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٧٩
[37:79]
Peace upon Noah amongst all the people.

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ٨٠
[37:80]
We thus indeed reward the righteous.

إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ٨١
[37:81]
He was indeed one of Our faithful servants.

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ ٨٢
[37:82]
We then drowned the rest.

وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ ٨٣
[37:83]
And indeed Abraham belonged to his creed.

إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ ٨٤
[37:84]
As he came to his Lord with a peaceful heart.

إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ ٨٥
[37:85]
When he said to his father and to his people; what are you worshiping?

أَئِفْكًا ءَالِهَةً دُونَ ٱللَّهِ2104481 تُرِيدُونَ ٨٦
[37:86]
Is it fabricated gods besides God2104481 that you wish?

فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٨٧
[37:87]
Then what do you think of the Lord of the multiverse?

فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِى ٱلنُّجُومِ ٨٨
[37:88]
He then took a look at the stars.

فَقَالَ إِنِّى سَقِيمٌ ٨٩

He then said; I am indeed sick of this; -

فَتَوَلَّوْا۟ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ ٩٠
[37:90]
-as they set and he lost sight of them.

فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ ٩١
[37:91]
Then he turned to their gods and said; why do you not eat?

فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًۢا بِٱلْيَمِينِ ٩٣
[37:93]
He then turned against them, striking them with his right hand.

فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ ٩٤
[37:94]
Afterwards, they came to him rushing..

قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ ٩٥
[37:95]
He said; do you worship what you carve?

وَٱللَّهُ2105482 خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ ٩٦
[37:96]
While God2105482 is the One who created you and everything you make.

قَالُوا۟ ٱبْنُوا۟ لَهُۥ بُنْيَـٰنًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِى ٱلْجَحِيمِ ٩٧
[37:97]
They said, let us build for him a furnace, and throw him in the inferno.

فَأَرَادُوا۟ بِهِۦ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ ٩٨
[37:98]
Therefore, they decided to conspire against him and We made them lowly.

وَقَالَ إِنِّى ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ ٩٩
[37:99]
And he said; I am going to my Lord, He will guide me.

رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ ١٠٠
[37:100]
Lord, grant me from the lot of the righteous.

فَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِغُلَـٰمٍ حَلِيمٍ ١٠١
[37:101]
We therefore gave him the good news of a clement son.

فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ ٱلسَّعْىَ قَالَ يَـٰبُنَىَّ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰ فِى ٱلْمَنَامِ أَنِّىٓ أَذْبَحُكَ فَٱنظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ قَالَ يَـٰٓأَبَتِ ٱفْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ2106483 مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ ١٠٢
[37:102]
Then, when he reached the age to walk with him, he said; O my son, indeed I see in a dream that I must sacrifice you, therefore, tell me what you think of this? He said; O my father, do as you are commanded; you will find me, God2106483 willing steadfast.

فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ ١٠٣
[37:103]
Then when they both became at peace, and he laid on his side-

وَنَـٰدَيْنَـٰهُ أَن يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ ١٠٤
[37:104]
-and We called on to him; O Abraham!

قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ ٱلرُّءْيَآ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ١٠٥
[37:105]
You are only fulfilling a dream. We thus certainly reward the pious.

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ ٱلْبَلَـٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْمُبِينُ ١٠٦
[37:106]
This was a clear test.

وَفَدَيْنَـٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ ١٠٧
[37:107]
And We ransomed him with a splendid offer-up.

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ١٠٨
[37:108]
And We preserved this for the later generations.

كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ١١٠
[37:110]
We thus reward the pious.

إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ١١١
[37:111]
He was indeed one of our faithful servants.

وَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُ بِإِسْحَـٰقَ نَبِيًّا مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ ١١٢
[37:112]
And We gave him the good news of Isaac, a prophet, one of the righteous.

وَبَـٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٌ ١١٣

And We blessed him and Isaac, and amongst their descendants, some are righteous, and some are clearly transgressing against their souls.

وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ١١٤

And We also indeed blessed Moses and Aaron,

وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ١١٥

And We saved them both as well as their people from a great disaster.

وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُمْ فَكَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَ ١١٦

And We helped them; consequently, they were victorious.

وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ ٱلْمُسْتَبِينَ ١١٧

And We gave them the clarifying scripture.

وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ ١١٨

And We guided them both to the straight path.

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ١١٩

And We preserved their history for the later generations.

سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ١٢٠
[37:120]
Peace upon Moses and Aaron.

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ١٢١
[37:121]
We thus reward the pious.

إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ١٢٢
[37:122]
They were both amongst Our faithful servants.

وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ١٢٣
[37:123]
And indeed Elias was one of the messengers.

إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ١٢٤
[37:124]
When he said to his people, why do you not fear god?

أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ ٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ ١٢٥

Do you call upon a statue instead of the best of creators?

ٱللَّهَ2107484 رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ١٢٦

God2107484 is your Lord and the Lord of your ancient ancestors.

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ ١٢٧

However, they rejected him, and they will surely be summoned.

Exempted are God2108485's servants who are purely devoted to Him.

And We preserved their history for the subsequent generations.

We thus indeed reward the pious.

He was indeed one of Our faithful servants.

وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ١٣٣

And surely Lot was one of the messengers.

إِذْ نَجَّيْنَـٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ ١٣٤

As We saved him and his family, all-together -

إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِى ٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَ ١٣٥
[37:135]
-except an old hag who was left with the doomed.

ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا ٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَ ١٣٦
[37:136]
We then destroyed the others.

وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ ١٣٧
[37:137]
And certainly you pass by them during the day -

وَبِٱلَّيْلِ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ ١٣٨
[37:138]
-and during the night. Do you not use your intelligence?

وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ١٣٩

Also Jonah was one of the messengers.

إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ ١٤٠

When he took refuge in the loaded ship.

فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُدْحَضِينَ ١٤١

He joined them, consequently he became a rejecter.

فَٱلْتَقَمَهُ ٱلْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ ١٤٢
[37:142]
Then the whale swallowed him, and only he was to be blamed.

فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ ١٤٣

Had he not resorted to supplication,-

لَلَبِثَ فِى بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ ١٤٤
[37:144]
-he would have surely remained inside his belly until the Day of Resurrection.

فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُ بِٱلْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ ١٤٥
[37:145]
We therefore threw him out into the desert and he was really sick.

وَأَنۢبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّن يَقْطِينٍ ١٤٦
[37:146]
And We grew for him a tree with edible fruit.

وَأَرْسَلْنَـٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِا۟ئَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ ١٤٧
[37:147]
And We dispatched him to a hundred thousand or more.

فَـَٔامَنُوا۟ فَمَتَّعْنَـٰهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ ١٤٨
[37:148]
And they all attained faith; consequently, We let them enjoy for awhile.

فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ ٱلْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ ١٤٩

Ask them; does your Lord have daughters while they have sons?

أَمْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَـٰثًا وَهُمْ شَـٰهِدُونَ ١٥٠

Or did We create the angels female, while they were witnessing?

أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ ١٥١

They do indeed make up other lies as they say;-

وَلَدَ ٱللَّهُ2109486 وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ ١٥٢

God2109486 has begotten a son. However, they are indeed liars.

أَصْطَفَى ٱلْبَنَاتِ عَلَى ٱلْبَنِينَ ١٥٣

Has He chosen daughters rather than sons?

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ ١٥٤
[37:154]
What is with you? How can you judge like this?

أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَـٰنٌ مُّبِينٌ ١٥٦

Or do you have a profound authority?

فَأْتُوا۟ بِكِتَـٰبِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ ١٥٧

Therefore, bring your scripture if you are truthful.

وَجَعَلُوا۟ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ ٱلْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ ٱلْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ ١٥٨
[37:158]
And they also invented a relationship between Him and the jinns; however, the jinns know full well that they all stand ready at His disposal.

سُبْحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ2110487 عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ ١٥٩

Glory to God2110487, far above their descriptions.

Exempted are God2111488's servants who are devoted purely to Him.

Indeed, neither you nor what you worship-

-disturbs Him in the least.

It only disturbs those who are in the heart of the Inferno.

وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ ١٦٤

Each one of us has a specific rank.

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلصَّآفُّونَ ١٦٥
[37:165]
And we are certainly stratified in rows.

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَ ١٦٦

And we are constantly glorifying god.

وَإِن كَانُوا۟ لَيَقُولُونَ ١٦٧

And there are those who say,-

لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًا مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ١٦٨

if only we had a reminder like that of the previous generations-

لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ2112489 ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ ١٦٩

-we would have definitely been servants of God2112489, and would have been purely devoted to Him.

فَكَفَرُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ ١٧٠

But they rejected him, consequently, they will soon find out.

وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ١٧١

Our word has already been decreed to Our servants who are messengers.

إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ ٱلْمَنصُورُونَ ١٧٢

Indeed they shall be victorious.

وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ ١٧٣

And Our armies always conquer.

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ ١٧٤

Therefore, leave them alone for a while.

And watch them, they are also watching.

Are they rushing to receive Our punishment?

فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ ١٧٧

However, when it descends upon their backyard, what a miserable day will it be for those who were warned.

وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ ١٧٨

Therefore, ignore them for a while.

And watch, they are also watching.

Glory to your Lord, Lord of dignity, far removed from their descriptions.

وَسَلَـٰمٌ عَلَى ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ ١٨١

And peace upon the messengers.

And praise God2113490, Lord of the multiverse.
