Sura 40: Ghāfir (Forgiver)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God, The All Gracious, The All Merciful

[40:1] HaMeem

تَنزِيلُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْعَلِيمِ ٢

[40:2] The revelation of the scripture is from God, The Almighty, The All Knowing.

غَافِرِ ٱلذَّنۢبِ وَقَابِلِ ٱلتَّوْبِ شَدِيدِ ٱلْعِقَابِ ذِى ٱلطَّوْلِ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ إِلَيْهِ ٱلْمَصِيرُ ٣

[40:3] Forgiver of sin, Acceptor of repentance, Enforcer of the ultimate punishment, Possessor of might, there is no god except He. To Him is the final destiny.

مَا يُجَـٰدِلُ فِىٓ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فَلَا يَغْرُرْكَ تَقَلُّبُهُمْ فِى ٱلْبِلَـٰدِ ٤

[40:4] No one disputes God's signs except the unfaithful; therefore, do not be deceived by their apparent success in the society.

كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَٱلْأَحْزَابُ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ وَهَمَّتْ كُلُّ أُمَّةٍۭ بِرَسُولِهِمْ لِيَأْخُذُوهُ وَجَـٰدَلُوا۟ بِٱلْبَـٰطِلِ لِيُدْحِضُوا۟ بِهِ ٱلْحَقَّ فَأَخَذْتُهُمْ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عِقَابِ ٥

[40:5] Rejecting before them were the people of Noah and the parties after them. Each community did their best to persecute their messenger, and they argued with falsehood to defeat the truth, but I punished them, how terrible was the consequence.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ حَقَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ ٦

[40:6] And the word of your Lord thus came true for the unfaithful; they are indeed the dwellers of Hell.

ٱلَّذِينَ يَحْمِلُونَ ٱلْعَرْشَ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُۥ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ رَبَّنَا وَسِعْتَ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ رَّحْمَةً وَعِلْمًا فَٱغْفِرْ لِلَّذِينَ تَابُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعُوا۟ سَبِيلَكَ وَقِهِمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ٧

[40:7] Those who carry the throne and those around it glorify and praise their Lord and believe in Him, and they ask forgiveness for the faithful; our Lord, Your mercy and knowledge encompasses all things, therefore, forgive those who have repented and followed your path and spare them the suffering of the Inferno.

رَبَّنَا وَأَدْخِلْهُمْ جَنَّـٰتِ عَدْنٍ ٱلَّتِى وَعَدتَّهُمْ وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنْ ءَابَآئِهِمْ وَأَزْوَٰجِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِهِمْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ٨

[40:8] Our Lord, and admit them into Gardens of Eden that you have promised them and also the righteous amongst their parents, their spouses, and their children. Indeed You are The Almighty, The All Wise.

وَقِهِمُ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ وَمَن تَقِ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَدْ رَحِمْتَهُۥ وَذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ ٩

[40:9] And spare them the ills. And whoever escapes the ills of that day; has indeed attained His mercy. And this is the great victory.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُنَادَوْنَ لَمَقْتُ ٱللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ مِن مَّقْتِكُمْ أَنفُسَكُمْ إِذْ تُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى ٱلْإِيمَـٰنِ فَتَكْفُرُونَ ١٠

[40:10] Indeed the unfaithful are told that indeed God's abhorrence towards you is greater than your abhorrence towards yourselves, because you were invited to the faith but you chose to reject it.

قَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَآ أَمَتَّنَا ٱثْنَتَيْنِ وَأَحْيَيْتَنَا ٱثْنَتَيْنِ فَٱعْتَرَفْنَا بِذُنُوبِنَا فَهَلْ إِلَىٰ خُرُوجٍ مِّن سَبِيلٍ ١١

[40:11] They said, our Lord, You have given us two deaths and two lives, we now confess our sins, is there any way out?

ذَٰلِكُم بِأَنَّهُۥٓ إِذَا دُعِىَ ٱللَّهُ وَحْدَهُۥ كَفَرْتُمْ وَإِن يُشْرَكْ بِهِۦ تُؤْمِنُوا۟ فَٱلْحُكْمُ لِلَّهِ ٱلْعَلِىِّ ٱلْكَبِيرِ ١٢

[40:12] This is because when God alone was called upon, you disbelieved, and when a partner was set up besides Him, you believed. Therefore, judgment belongs to God, The Exalted, The All Magnificent.

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُرِيكُمْ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ وَيُنَزِّلُ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ رِزْقًا وَمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ إِلَّا مَن يُنِيبُ ١٣

[40:13] He is the One who shows you His signs and sends down for you provisions from the sky. And no one takes heed except the penitent.

فَٱدْعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ ١٤

[40:14] You shall therefore call upon God, devoting the religion purely to Him, although the unfaithful dislike it.

رَفِيعُ ٱلدَّرَجَـٰتِ ذُو ٱلْعَرْشِ يُلْقِى ٱلرُّوحَ مِنْ أَمْرِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ لِيُنذِرَ يَوْمَ ٱلتَّلَاقِ ١٥

[40:15] The Possessor of The Highest ranks, Possessor of the throne, He sends The Spirit by His command to whomever He wills from amongst His servants to warn about The Day of the Gathering.

يَوْمَ هُم بَـٰرِزُونَ لَا يَخْفَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ مِنْهُمْ شَىْءٌ لِّمَنِ ٱلْمُلْكُ ٱلْيَوْمَ لِلَّهِ ٱلْوَٰحِدِ ٱلْقَهَّارِ ١٦

[40:16] The day they will be completely transparent, nothing will be hidden from God in the least. To whom belong all kingships on that day? To God, The One, The Supreme.

ٱلْيَوْمَ تُجْزَىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ لَا ظُلْمَ ٱلْيَوْمَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْحِسَابِ ١٧

[40:17] The day every soul will be requited according to what she earned. No one will suffer any injustice on that day. Indeed God is quick in reckoning.

وَأَنذِرْهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْـَٔازِفَةِ إِذِ ٱلْقُلُوبُ لَدَى ٱلْحَنَاجِرِ كَـٰظِمِينَ مَا لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ مِنْ حَمِيمٍ وَلَا شَفِيعٍ يُطَاعُ ١٨

[40:18] And warn them of the approaching day when the terrified hearts will reach their throats, full of remorse. The transgressors will have no friends and no intercessor will be obeyed.

يَعْلَمُ خَآئِنَةَ ٱلْأَعْيُنِ وَمَا تُخْفِى ٱلصُّدُورُ ١٩

[40:19] He knows what is hidden from the eyes and what is hidden in the chests.

وَٱللَّهُ يَقْضِى بِٱلْحَقِّ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ لَا يَقْضُونَ بِشَىْءٍ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْبَصِيرُ ٢٠

[40:20] And God judges according to the truth, while those whom they call besides Him do not judge a thing. Indeed God is The All Hearer, The All Seer.

أَوَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَانُوا۟ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ كَانُوا۟ هُمْ أَشَدَّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةً وَءَاثَارًا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِن وَاقٍ ٢١

[40:21] Do they not travel throughout the land and see the consequences for those before them? They were more powerful and left a more impressive legacy on the land, then God punished them because of their sins and there was no protection for them from God.

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانَت تَّأْتِيهِمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ فَكَفَرُوا۟ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ إِنَّهُۥ قَوِىٌّ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ ٢٢

[40:22] This is because when indeed their messengers went to them with proofs, they rejected faith, consequently, God punished them. Indeed He is All Powerful, strict in enforcing punishment.

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا وَسُلْطَـٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ ٢٣

[40:23] Similarly, We sent Moses with Our signs and a manifest authority-

إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَـٰمَـٰنَ وَقَـٰرُونَ فَقَالُوا۟ سَـٰحِرٌ كَذَّابٌ ٢٤

[40:24] -to Pharaoh, Hamaan, and Qaroon, but they said he is a lying magician.

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم بِٱلْحَقِّ مِنْ عِندِنَا قَالُوا۟ ٱقْتُلُوٓا۟ أَبْنَآءَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَعَهُۥ وَٱسْتَحْيُوا۟ نِسَآءَهُمْ وَمَا كَيْدُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ ٢٥

[40:25] When he came to them with the truth from Us, they said, kill the sons of those who believed with him and bring shame to their women. The scheming of the unfaithful is always misguided.

وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ ذَرُونِىٓ أَقْتُلْ مُوسَىٰ وَلْيَدْعُ رَبَّهُۥٓ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُبَدِّلَ دِينَكُمْ أَوْ أَن يُظْهِرَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلْفَسَادَ ٢٦

[40:26] And Pharaoh said, let me kill Moses and let him call upon his Lord. I am indeed afraid he may change your religion or spread corruption throughout the land.

وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنِّى عُذْتُ بِرَبِّى وَرَبِّكُم مِّن كُلِّ مُتَكَبِّرٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلْحِسَابِ ٢٧

[40:27] And Moses said, I surely seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord from all those who are arrogant and do not believe in the Day of Reckoning.

وَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مُّؤْمِنٌ مِّنْ ءَالِ فِرْعَوْنَ يَكْتُمُ إِيمَـٰنَهُۥٓ أَتَقْتُلُونَ رَجُلًا أَن يَقُولَ رَبِّىَ ٱللَّهُ وَقَدْ جَآءَكُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ وَإِن يَكُ كَـٰذِبًا فَعَلَيْهِ كَذِبُهُۥ وَإِن يَكُ صَادِقًا يُصِبْكُم بَعْضُ ٱلَّذِى يَعِدُكُمْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى مَنْ هُوَ مُسْرِفٌ كَذَّابٌ ٢٨

[40:28] And a faithful man from the people of Pharaoh who was concealing his faith said, are you going to kill a man for saying that my Lord is God when he has brought you proofs from your Lord? If he is a liar, he will suffer because of his lie and if he is truthful then you benefit from some of the promises to you. Indeed God does not guide those who are transgressing, liars.

يَـٰقَوْمِ لَكُمُ ٱلْمُلْكُ ٱلْيَوْمَ ظَـٰهِرِينَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَمَن يَنصُرُنَا مِنۢ بَأْسِ ٱللَّهِ إِن جَآءَنَا قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ مَآ أُرِيكُمْ إِلَّا مَآ أَرَىٰ وَمَآ أَهْدِيكُمْ إِلَّا سَبِيلَ ٱلرَّشَادِ ٢٩

[40:29] O my people, today you obviously have the kingship on the land, then who is going to help us from God's Might if it comes our way? Pharaoh responded, "you should only see it my way"; I only guide you to the right path.

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِىٓ ءَامَنَ يَـٰقَوْمِ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُم مِّثْلَ يَوْمِ ٱلْأَحْزَابِ ٣٠

[40:30] And the one who had faith said, O my people, I indeed fear for you the same fate of the other parties.

مِثْلَ دَأْبِ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَعَادٍ وَثَمُودَ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ يُرِيدُ ظُلْمًا لِّلْعِبَادِ ٣١

[40:31] The same as the plight of the people of Noah, Aad and Thamoud and those after them. God never wishes any injustice upon His servants.

وَيَـٰقَوْمِ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلتَّنَادِ ٣٢

[40:32] And O my people, I fear for you the Day of Summoning.

يَوْمَ تُوَلُّونَ مُدْبِرِينَ مَا لَكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ مِنْ عَاصِمٍ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنْ هَادٍ ٣٣

[40:33] That is the day when you would like to turn around and flee, but no one can protect you from God. And whomever God sends astray will never find a guide.

وَلَقَدْ جَآءَكُمْ يُوسُفُ مِن قَبْلُ بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ فَمَا زِلْتُمْ فِى شَكٍّ مِّمَّا جَآءَكُم بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا هَلَكَ قُلْتُمْ لَن يَبْعَثَ ٱللَّهُ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ رَسُولًا كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ مَنْ هُوَ مُسْرِفٌ مُّرْتَابٌ ٣٤

[40:34] And Joseph came to you previously with proofs but you were full of doubts concerning what he came with, until he died, then you said, God will never appoint another messenger after him. God thus sends astray those who are transgressing, doubtful.

ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَـٰدِلُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ سُلْطَـٰنٍ أَتَىٰهُمْ كَبُرَ مَقْتًا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَعِندَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كَذَٰلِكَ يَطْبَعُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ قَلْبِ مُتَكَبِّرٍ جَبَّارٍ ٣٥

[40:35] Those who argue about God's signs without proof, they only earn abhorrence in the site of God as well as in the site of the faithful. God thus seals the heart of every arrogant, tyrant.

وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ يَـٰهَـٰمَـٰنُ ٱبْنِ لِى صَرْحًا لَّعَلِّىٓ أَبْلُغُ ٱلْأَسْبَـٰبَ ٣٦

[40:36] Pharaoh said, O Hamaan, build me an edifice, that I may obtain the means-

أَسْبَـٰبَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ فَأَطَّلِعَ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَـٰهِ مُوسَىٰ وَإِنِّى لَأَظُنُّهُۥ كَـٰذِبًا وَكَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِفِرْعَوْنَ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِۦ وَصُدَّ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَمَا كَيْدُ فِرْعَوْنَ إِلَّا فِى تَبَابٍ ٣٧

[40:37] -the means to reach the skies that I may look upon the god of Moses. I think he is a liar. Pharaoh's evil work was thus adorned for him; he was repelled from the path. And Pharaoh's schemes were always in vain.

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِىٓ ءَامَنَ يَـٰقَوْمِ ٱتَّبِعُونِ أَهْدِكُمْ سَبِيلَ ٱلرَّشَادِ ٣٨

[40:38] The one who had faith said, O my people follow me, and I will guide you to the right path.

يَـٰقَوْمِ إِنَّمَا هَـٰذِهِ ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا مَتَـٰعٌ وَإِنَّ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ هِىَ دَارُ ٱلْقَرَارِ ٣٩

[40:39] O my people, this worldly life is only a temporary provision and indeed the Hereafter is the eternal abode.

مَنْ عَمِلَ سَيِّئَةً فَلَا يُجْزَىٰٓ إِلَّا مِثْلَهَا وَمَنْ عَمِلَ صَـٰلِحًا مِّن ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنثَىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ ٱلْجَنَّةَ يُرْزَقُونَ فِيهَا بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ ٤٠

[40:40] Those who have worked evil will not be requited except for the exact amount. As for those who have led a righteous life, be it male or female, while remaining faithful, then they enter Paradise, wherein they will be provided for without limits.

وَيَـٰقَوْمِ مَا لِىٓ أَدْعُوكُمْ إِلَى ٱلنَّجَوٰةِ وَتَدْعُونَنِىٓ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِ ٤١

[40:41] And O my people, here I am inviting you to be saved, while you are inviting me to Hell.

تَدْعُونَنِى لِأَكْفُرَ بِٱللَّهِ وَأُشْرِكَ بِهِۦ مَا لَيْسَ لِى بِهِۦ عِلْمٌ وَأَنَا۠ أَدْعُوكُمْ إِلَى ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلْغَفَّـٰرِ ٤٢

[40:42] You are inviting me to reject faith in God and to set up partners for Him, while I have no knowledge thereof, and I am inviting you to The Almighty, The All Forgiver.

لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّمَا تَدْعُونَنِىٓ إِلَيْهِ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَعْوَةٌ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا وَلَا فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَأَنَّ مَرَدَّنَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ وَأَنَّ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ هُمْ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ ٤٣

[40:43] Without a doubt, you are indeed inviting me to what is neither worthy of calling upon in this world nor in the Hereafter. And surely our return will be to God and indeed the transgressors will be the dwellers of Hell.

فَسَتَذْكُرُونَ مَآ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ وَأُفَوِّضُ أَمْرِىٓ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بَصِيرٌۢ بِٱلْعِبَادِ ٤٤

[40:44] You will soon remember what I am telling you, and I delegate my affairs to God. Indeed, God is Seer of the worshipers.

فَوَقَىٰهُ ٱللَّهُ سَيِّـَٔاتِ مَا مَكَرُوا۟ وَحَاقَ بِـَٔالِ فِرْعَوْنَ سُوٓءُ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٤٥

[40:45] Therefore God saved him from their evil schemes, while the people of Pharaoh have deserved the worst suffering.

ٱلنَّارُ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَيْهَا غُدُوًّا وَعَشِيًّا وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ أَدْخِلُوٓا۟ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ أَشَدَّ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٤٦

[40:46] Hell will be shown to them day and night and the day the hour is struck, let the people of Pharaoh endure the ultimate suffering.

وَإِذْ يَتَحَآجُّونَ فِى ٱلنَّارِ فَيَقُولُ ٱلضُّعَفَـٰٓؤُا۟ لِلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَكْبَرُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا لَكُمْ تَبَعًا فَهَلْ أَنتُم مُّغْنُونَ عَنَّا نَصِيبًا مِّنَ ٱلنَّارِ ٤٧

[40:47] As they argue in Hell, the followers say to the arrogant leaders, we indeed used to obey you; therefore, can you relieve from us any part of Hell?

[40:48] The arrogant leaders say, we are all indeed in it together, God has surely judged amongst the servants.

[40:49] Those in Hell say to the guardians of Gehenna; call upon your Lord to reduce the suffering for us just by a day.

قَالُوٓا۟ أَوَلَمْ تَكُ تَأْتِيكُمْ رُسُلُكُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ قَالُوا۟ فَٱدْعُوا۟ وَمَا دُعَـٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ ٥٠

[40:50] They say, did you not receive messengers with proofs? They will say, yes. They will then say, go ahead and call, the calling of the unfaithful is in vain.

إِنَّا لَنَنصُرُ رُسُلَنَا وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ فِى ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَيَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلْأَشْهَـٰدُ ٥١

[40:51] We will most assuredly give victory to Our messengers and those who attained faith in this worldly life and on the day when the witnesses are brought forth.

يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ مَعْذِرَتُهُمْ وَلَهُمُ ٱللَّعْنَةُ وَلَهُمْ سُوٓءُ ٱلدَّارِ ٥٢

[40:52] That is the Day when the apology of the unjust will not benefit them and they have deserved damnation and reserved for them is the worst abode.

وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْهُدَىٰ وَأَوْرَثْنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ ٥٣

[40:53] And We indeed gave Moses the guidance, and We let the Children of Israel inherit the scripture.

[40:55] You shall therefore wait for indeed God's promise is the truth and you shall ask forgiveness for your sins and glorify and praise your Lord night and day.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يُجَـٰدِلُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ سُلْطَـٰنٍ أَتَىٰهُمْ إِن فِى صُدُورِهِمْ إِلَّا كِبْرٌ مَّا هُم بِبَـٰلِغِيهِ فَٱسْتَعِذْ بِٱللَّهِ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْبَصِيرُ ٥٦

[40:56] Those who argue about God's signs without any proof have nothing in their chest except arrogance that they are not even aware of it. You shall therefore seek refuge in God. Indeed He is the All Hearer, the All Seer.

لَخَلْقُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ خَلْقِ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ٥٧

[40:57] Indeed the creation of the vacua and matter is greater than the creation of the human being, but most people do not know.

وَمَا يَسْتَوِى ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ وَٱلْبَصِيرُ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَلَا ٱلْمُسِىٓءُ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ ٥٨

[40:58] And the blind and the seer are not equal, nor are those who attained faith and lead a righteous life and the evildoers. Only a few take heed.

[40:59] The Hour is surely coming, there is no doubt about it; however, most people do not believe.

[40:60] And your Lord said, call upon Me, I will respond to you. Indeed those who are too arrogant to worship Me will enter Gehenna forcibly.

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيْلَ لِتَسْكُنُوا۟ فِيهِ وَٱلنَّهَارَ مُبْصِرًا إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ ٦١

[40:61] God is the One who made the night for you to rest therein, and the day bright. Indeed God possesses generosity for the people but most people are not appreciative.

[40:62] Such is God, your Lord, creator of all things, there is no god except He, how can you then deviate?

ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ قَرَارًا وَٱلسَّمَآءَ بِنَآءً وَصَوَّرَكُمْ فَأَحْسَنَ صُوَرَكُمْ وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٦٤

[40:64] God is the One who made the land habitable for you, and the vacuum a structure, and He depicted you and made it the most beautiful depiction, and He provided for you from the clean things. Such is God, your Lord, therefore, glory to God, Lord of the multiverse.

[40:65] He is the Living, there is no god except He, therefore call upon Him, devoting the religion purely to Him. Praise God, Lord of the multiverse.

قُلْ إِنِّى نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ ٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَمَّا جَآءَنِىَ ٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتُ مِن رَّبِّى وَأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُسْلِمَ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٦٦

[40:66] Say, I have indeed been enjoined from worshiping those whom you call upon besides God once I received proofs from my Lord. And I was enjoined to enter in peace with the Lord of the multiverse.

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ عَلَقَةٍ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُكُمْ طِفْلًا ثُمَّ لِتَبْلُغُوٓا۟ أَشُدَّكُمْ ثُمَّ لِتَكُونُوا۟ شُيُوخًا وَمِنكُم مَّن يُتَوَفَّىٰ مِن قَبْلُ وَلِتَبْلُغُوٓا۟ أَجَلًا مُّسَمًّى وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ ٦٧

[40:67] He is the One who created you from clay then from semen, then from a hanging, then He brings you out as an infant, then you reach maturity, then you get old. While some of you die before that, some reach a specific interim that you may use your intelligence.

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُحْىِۦ وَيُمِيتُ فَإِذَا قَضَىٰٓ أَمْرًا فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ ٦٨

[40:68] He is the One who grants life and death; as a consequence once He wills to fulfill any task, then, He only says to it, "Be", and it is.

[40:69] Do you not see those who dispute regarding God's signs have totally deviated?

[40:70] Those who reject the scripture and the message that We sent our messengers with, they will soon find out-

[40:71] -once shackles are placed around their necks as well as chains with which they are dragged-

فِى ٱلْحَمِيمِ ثُمَّ فِى ٱلنَّارِ يُسْجَرُونَ ٧٢

[40:72] -into the Inferno, then they will be burned in Hell.

مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ قَالُوا۟ ضَلُّوا۟ عَنَّا بَل لَّمْ نَكُن نَّدْعُوا۟ مِن قَبْلُ شَيْـًٔا كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ ٧٤

[40:74] -besides God? They will say, they have abandoned us as though we never called upon them for anything. God thus sends the unfaithful astray.

ذَٰلِكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ ٱلْحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنتُمْ تَمْرَحُونَ ٧٥

[40:75] That is because you rejoiced on the land with other than the truth, and you used to blunder.

ٱدْخُلُوٓا۟ أَبْوَٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا فَبِئْسَ مَثْوَى ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ ٧٦

[40:76] Enter the gates of Gehenna to abide therein forever; what a miserable abode for the arrogant.

فَٱصْبِرْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّ فَإِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعْضَ ٱلَّذِى نَعِدُهُمْ أَوْ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِلَيْنَا يُرْجَعُونَ ٧٧

[40:77] You shall therefore be patient, for indeed God's promise is true. Then, whether We show you some of what We have promised to them, or terminate your life, to Us they will all return.

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلًا مِّن قَبْلِكَ مِنْهُم مَّن قَصَصْنَا عَلَيْكَ وَمِنْهُم مَّن لَّمْ نَقْصُصْ عَلَيْكَ وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ أَن يَأْتِىَ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَمْرُ ٱللَّهِ قُضِىَ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلْمُبْطِلُونَ ٧٨

[40:78] And We indeed sent messengers before you, some We narrated to you their history and some We did not narrate to you. And there is not a single messenger who can produce a sign without God's permission. And once God's command is issued, and the truth has prevailed, the falsifiers shall perish.

[40:79] God is the One who made the livestock for you to ride on and eat therefrom.

وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَنَـٰفِعُ وَلِتَبْلُغُوا۟ عَلَيْهَا حَاجَةً فِى صُدُورِكُمْ وَعَلَيْهَا وَعَلَى ٱلْفُلْكِ تُحْمَلُونَ ٨٠

[40:80] And there are benefits for you in them and that you may fulfill your needs through them and on them and on the ships you are carried.

وَيُرِيكُمْ ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ فَأَىَّ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ تُنكِرُونَ ٨١

[40:81] And He continues to show you His signs, therefore, which of God's signs can you deny?

أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ كَانُوٓا۟ أَكْثَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَأَشَدَّ قُوَّةً وَءَاثَارًا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَمَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ ٨٢

[40:82] Do they not travel throughout the land and see what the consequences for those before them were? They were greater in number and were more powerful and left a greater legacy on the land, however, their earnings never enriched them.

فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ فَرِحُوا۟ بِمَا عِندَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْعِلْمِ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ ٨٣

[40:83] But, when their messengers went to them with proofs, they rejoiced in the knowledge they already had, and the very thing they ridiculed came back to haunt them.

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْا۟ بَأْسَنَا قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَحْدَهُۥ وَكَفَرْنَا بِمَا كُنَّا بِهِۦ مُشْرِكِينَ ٨٤

[40:84] Then once they saw Our Might, they said, We believe in God alone and reject what we used to set up as partners for Him.

فَلَمْ يَكُ يَنفَعُهُمْ إِيمَـٰنُهُمْ لَمَّا رَأَوْا۟ بَأْسَنَا سُنَّتَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلَّتِى قَدْ خَلَتْ فِى عِبَادِهِۦ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ ٨٥

[40:85] However, their belief will not benefit them, once they see Our Might. Such is God's system with which He deals with His servants. And the unfaithful shall end up losers.
