Sura 55: Ar-Raḥmān (The All Gracious)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God, The All Gracious, The All Merciful

ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ ١

[55:1] The All Gracious-

عَلَّمَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ ٢

[55:2] -teaches the Quran.

خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ ٣

[55:3] He created the human being.

عَلَّمَهُ ٱلْبَيَانَ ٤

[55:4] He teaches him how to distinguish.

ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ ٥

[55:5] The sun and the moon are exactly calculated.

وَٱلنَّجْمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ ٦

[55:6] And the star and the tree prostrate.

وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلْمِيزَانَ ٧

[55:7] And He raised the sky and established the balance.

أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْمِيزَانِ ٨

[55:8] Absolutely, do not violate the balance.

وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلْوَزْنَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا۟ ٱلْمِيزَانَ ٩

[55:9] And set the scales equitably and do not disturb the balance.

وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ ١٠

[55:10] He set up the earth for all creatures.

فِيهَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَٱلنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ ٱلْأَكْمَامِ ١١

[55:11] In it are fruits and date palms with hanging clusters.

وَٱلْحَبُّ ذُو ٱلْعَصْفِ وَٱلرَّيْحَانُ ١٢

[55:12] And whole grain and spices.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ١٣

[55:13] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلْصَـٰلٍ كَٱلْفَخَّارِ ١٤

[55:14] He created the human being from clay like potter's clay.

وَخَلَقَ ٱلْجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجٍ مِّن نَّارٍ ١٥

[55:15] And He created the jinns from blazing fire.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ١٦

[55:16] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَغْرِبَيْنِ ١٧

[55:17] He is Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ١٨

[55:18] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

مَرَجَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ ١٩

[55:19] He separates the two seas where they meet.

بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَّا يَبْغِيَانِ ٢٠

[55:20] Between them is a barrier, they cannot transgress.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٢١

[55:21] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا ٱللُّؤْلُؤُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ ٢٢

[55:22] Out of both of them come pearls and coral.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٢٣

[55:23] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

وَلَهُ ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ كَٱلْأَعْلَـٰمِ ٢٤

[55:24] And to Him belong the ships in the sea like flags.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٢٥

[55:25] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ ٢٦

[55:26] Everyone on it will perish.

وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ ٢٧

[55:27] And eternal is the face of your Lord, possessor of Majesty and Honor.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٢٨

[55:28] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

يَسْـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِى شَأْنٍ ٢٩

[55:29] Seeking Him is everyone in the vacua and matter. Every day He is in full control.

[55:30] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ ٣١

[55:31] We will soon settle the matter for you, O you two masses.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٣٢

[55:32] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

يَـٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنْ أَقْطَارِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ ٣٣

[55:33] O you multitudes of jinns and humans if you can penetrate the diameters of the vacua and matter; go ahead and penetrate. You can never penetrate except by authorization.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٣٤

[55:34] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِّن نَّارٍ وَنُحَاسٌ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ ٣٥

[55:35] The two of you will be bombarded by blazing fire and molten copper and you will have no help.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٣٦

[55:36] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَٱلدِّهَانِ ٣٧

[55:37] When the vacuum ruptures and becomes red like rouge.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٣٨

[55:38] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُسْـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسٌ وَلَا جَآنٌّ ٣٩

[55:39] Then there will be a day when no human and no jinn will be asked about his sin.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٤٠

[55:40] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

يُعْرَفُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَـٰهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِى وَٱلْأَقْدَامِ ٤١

[55:41] The guilty will be recognized by their looks, and they will be taken by the forelocks and the feet.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٤٢

[55:42] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِى يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ ٤٣

[55:43] This is Gehenna that the guilty used to deny.

يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانٍ ٤٤

[55:44] They circulate between it and the intolerable Inferno readily.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٤٥

[55:45] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ ٤٦

[55:46] As for the one who fears the Majesty of his Lord, there will be two paradises.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٤٧

[55:47] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

ذَوَاتَآ أَفْنَانٍ ٤٨

[55:48] Containing everything.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٤٩

[55:49] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ تَجْرِيَانِ ٥٠

[55:50] In each of the two, a spring is flowing.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٥١

[55:51] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةٍ زَوْجَانِ ٥٢

[55:52] In them, there will be all sorts of fruits, two kinds.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٥٣

[55:53] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشٍۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنْ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ وَجَنَى ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ دَانٍ ٥٤

[55:54] They will relax on furnishings with linings of silk. And the fruits of the two paradises will be within reach.

[55:55] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

فِيهِنَّ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ ٥٦

[55:56] Therein will be demure companions subduing their eyes, except for their husbands; that no human and jinn have ever touched them.

[55:57] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلْيَاقُوتُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ ٥٨

[55:58] They are like rubies and coral.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٥٩

[55:59] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

هَلْ جَزَآءُ ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنُ ٦٠

[55:60] Is the reward for goodness anything but goodness?

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٦١

[55:61] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ ٦٢

[55:62] And below these two are two other paradises.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٦٣

[55:63] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

مُدْهَآمَّتَانِ ٦٤

[55:64] Both are lush green.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٦٥

[55:65] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ ٦٦

[55:66] In these two, there are two springs gushing out.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٦٧

[55:67] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

فِيهِمَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَنَخْلٌ وَرُمَّانٌ ٦٨

[55:68] In both there will be fruits, and dates and pomegranates.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٦٩

[55:69] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

فِيهِنَّ خَيْرَٰتٌ حِسَانٌ ٧٠

[55:70] In them will be pure, beautiful companions.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧١

[55:71] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

حُورٌ مَّقْصُورَٰتٌ فِى ٱلْخِيَامِ ٧٢

[55:72] Demure companions residing in tents who subdue their eyes except for their husbands.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧٣

[55:73] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ ٧٤

[55:74] No human or jinn has ever touched them previously.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧٥

[55:75] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَعَبْقَرِىٍّ حِسَانٍ ٧٦

[55:76] They will be relaxing on green cushions and in luxurious establishments.

فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ٧٧

[55:77] Then which of your Lord's marvels can you two deny?

تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِى ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ ٧٨

[55:78] Blessed is the name of your Lord, Possessor of Majesty and Honor.
