Sura 75: Al-Qiyāmah (Resurrection)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God, The All Gracious, The All Merciful

لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ١

[75:1] I swear by the Day of Resurrection.

وَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلنَّفْسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ ٢

[75:2] And I do swear by the blaming soul.

أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ ٣

[75:3] Does the human being think that We will not collect his bones?

بَلَىٰ قَـٰدِرِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّسَوِّىَ بَنَانَهُۥ ٤

[75:4] Yes indeed, We are able to reconstruct his finger tips.

بَلْ يُرِيدُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ ٥

[75:5] But the human being only wishes to do the most wrong right before him.

يَسْـَٔلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ٦

[75:6] He asks; when is the Day of Resurrection?

فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلْبَصَرُ ٧

[75:7] That is when the eyes are overwhelmed by the lightning.

وَخَسَفَ ٱلْقَمَرُ ٨

[75:8] And the moon is eclipsed.

وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ ٩

[75:9] And the sun and the moon are expired,-

يَقُولُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ ٱلْمَفَرُّ ١٠

[75:10] -the human being will say on that day; is there a way out?

كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ ١١

[75:11] Absolutely, no place is safe.

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمُسْتَقَرُّ ١٢

[75:12] Only to your Lord, on that day, will be the final destiny.

يُنَبَّؤُا۟ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ ١٣

[75:13] The human being will be informed on that day what caused him to advance and regress.

بَلِ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ بَصِيرَةٌ ١٤

[75:14] The human being will fully see his own soul.

وَلَوْ أَلْقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُۥ ١٥

[75:15] No apologies will be accepted.

لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِۦٓ ١٦

[75:16] Do not move your tongue to hasten it.

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُۥ وَقُرْءَانَهُۥ ١٧

[75:17] Indeed it is We who will collect it and make it a Quran.

فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَـٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعْ قُرْءَانَهُۥ ١٨

[75:18] Then once We recite it, you shall then follow such a Quran.

ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُۥ ١٩

[75:19] Then indeed it is We who will explain it.

كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ ٢٠

[75:20] Absolutely, you love this fleeting life.

وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ ٢١

[75:21] And neglect the Hereafter.

وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ ٢٢

[75:22] Some faces, on that day, will be radiant.

إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ ٢٣

[75:23] Looking towards their Lord.

وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍۭ بَاسِرَةٌ ٢٤

[75:24] And some faces, on that day, will be distorted.

تَظُنُّ أَن يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ ٢٥

[75:25] Knowing the worst is about to happen to them.

كَلَّآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِىَ ٢٦

[75:26] Absolutely, when it reaches the collar bones.

وَقِيلَ مَنْ رَاقٍ ٢٧

[75:27] And he is told; is there any one to relieve it?

وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلْفِرَاقُ ٢٨

[75:28] And he will know it is indeed time to depart.

وَٱلْتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِ ٢٩

[75:29] And one leg lies motionless next to the other.

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ ٱلْمَسَاقُ ٣٠

[75:30] To your Lord, on that day, will be the journey.

فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ ٣١

[75:31] He was never charitable nor did he ever pray.

وَلَـٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ٣٢

[75:32] On the contrary, he always denied the truth and ignored it.

ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ يَتَمَطَّىٰٓ ٣٣

[75:33] He was always arrogant with his family.

أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ ٣٤

[75:34] You have really deserved this.

ثُمَّ أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰٓ ٣٥

[75:35] Then again, you have really deserved this.

أَيَحْسَبُ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ أَن يُتْرَكَ سُدًى ٣٦

[75:36] Does the human being think that he will be left untouched?

أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّن مَّنِىٍّ يُمْنَىٰ ٣٧

[75:37] Was he not a drop of ejected semen?

ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ ٣٨

[75:38] Then he became an embryo, then He created and perfected.

فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ ٱلزَّوْجَيْنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓ ٣٩

[75:39] And He made him into a pair, male and female.

أَلَيْسَ ذَٰلِكَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُحْـِۧىَ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ ٤٠

[75:40] Is He therefore not able to grant life to the dead?
