Sura 77: Al-Mursalāt (The Dispatched)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God, The All Gracious, The All Merciful

وَٱلْمُرْسَلَـٰتِ عُرْفًا ١

[77:1] By the dispatched, one after another-

فَٱلْعَـٰصِفَـٰتِ عَصْفًا ٢

[77:2] -which consequently stir up the winds.

وَٱلنَّـٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْرًا ٣

[77:3] And scatter things all over.

فَٱلْفَـٰرِقَـٰتِ فَرْقًا ٤

[77:4] Then separate things from one-another.

فَٱلْمُلْقِيَـٰتِ ذِكْرًا ٥

[77:5] Then by the deliverers of the reminder.

عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا ٦

[77:6] Be it a pardon or a warning.

إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٌ ٧

[77:7] Most assuredly what is promised must come to pass.

فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ ٨

[77:8] Then when the stars extinguish.

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ ٩

[77:9] And when the vacuum ruptures.

وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ ١٠

[77:10] And when the mountains are blown away.

وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ ١١

[77:11] And when the messengers are recalled.

لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ ١٢

[77:12] On which day is their interim up?

لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفَصْلِ ١٣

[77:13] The day of decision.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ١٤

[77:14] And what is your understanding of the day of decision?

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ١٥

[77:15] Woe to the rejecters on that day.

أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ١٦

[77:16] Did We not annihilate the early generations?

ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ ١٧

[77:17] Then We had others follow them.

كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ١٨

[77:18] We thus deal with the guilty.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ١٩

[77:19] Woe to the rejecters on that day.

أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ ٢٠

[77:20] Did We not create you from a lowly liquid-

فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ ٢١

[77:21] -which We then placed in a secure repository-

إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ ٢٢

[77:22] -for a predetermined period?

فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْقَـٰدِرُونَ ٢٣

[77:23] We measured it exactly, for We are in full control.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٢٤

[77:24] Woe to the rejecters on that day.

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا ٢٥

[77:25] Did We not make the land a sustainer?

أَحْيَآءً وَأَمْوَٰتًا ٢٦

[77:26] For both the living as well as the dead?

وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَـٰمِخَـٰتٍ وَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُم مَّآءً فُرَاتًا ٢٧

[77:27] And made therein mountains standing tall, and provided for you fresh water.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٢٨

[77:28] Woe to the rejecters on that day.

ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ٢٩

[77:29] Go to what you used to reject.

ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّ ذِى ثَلَـٰثِ شُعَبٍ ٣٠

[77:30] Go to a shade of three different kinds.

لَّا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ ٣١

[77:31] Not really a shade, and of no use against the searing flames.

إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍ كَٱلْقَصْرِ ٣٢

[77:32] Indeed it throws out sparks as big as castles.

كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَـٰلَتٌ صُفْرٌ ٣٣

[77:33] As indeed it is like the color of yellow camels.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٣٤

[77:34] Woe to the rejecters on that day.

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ ٣٥

[77:35] This will be a day when they will not be able to speak.

وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ ٣٦

[77:36] And they will not be allowed to offer excuses.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٣٧

[77:37] Woe to the rejecters on that day.

هَـٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ جَمَعْنَـٰكُمْ وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ٣٨

[77:38] This is the day of decision; We have summoned you as well as the previous generations.

فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ ٣٩

[77:39] Therefore, if you have a scheme, go ahead and use it.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٤٠

[77:40] Woe to the rejecters on that day.

إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَـٰلٍ وَعُيُونٍ ٤١

[77:41] Indeed, the righteous will be amid shades and springs.

وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ ٤٢

[77:42] And the fruits that they desire.

كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ٤٣

[77:43] Eat and drink because of your deeds.

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ ٤٤

[77:44] We thus indeed reward the righteous.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٤٥

[77:45] Woe to the rejecters on that day.

كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ ٤٦

[77:46] As for you proven guilty, eat and enjoy for a little while.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٤٧

[77:47] Woe to the rejecters on that day.

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرْكَعُوا۟ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ ٤٨

[77:48] And when they were told to bow down, they refused to bow down.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٤٩

[77:49] Woe to the rejecters on that day.

فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ ٥٠

[77:50] Therefore, in which Hadeeth other than this do they believe?
