Sura 83: Al-Muṭaffifīn (The Cheaters)
الْمُطَفِّفِين

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the name of God, The All Gracious, The All Merciful

ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ ٢
[83:2]
Those who demand full measure from the people when dealing with them-

وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ ٣
[83:3]
-but when they measure or weigh, they cheat.

أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ ٤
[83:4]
Do they not know that they will indeed be resurrected-

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٦
[83:6]
That is the day when the people will rise for the Lord of the Multiverse.

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ ٧
[83:7]
Absolutely, the record of the evildoers is in Sejeen.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ ٨
[83:8]
And do you realize what Sejeen is?

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ١٠
[83:10]
Woe on that day to the rejecters.

ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ ١١
[83:11]
Those who deny the Day of Faith.

وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ ١٢
[83:12]
And no one denies it except every transgressor, sinner.

إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ ١٣
[83:13]
When Our signs are recited to him, he says, tales from the past.

كَلَّا بَلْ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ ١٤
[83:14]
Absolutely, yet their hearts have been stained by what they earned.

كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ ١٥
[83:15]
Absolutely, indeed they will be isolated from their Lord on that day.

ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلْجَحِيمِ ١٦
[83:16]
Then, they will be thrown into the Inferno.

ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ١٧
[83:17]
Then they will be told; this is what you used to deny.

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ ١٨
[83:18]
Absolutely, the record of the righteous is in Ellieen.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ ١٩
[83:19]
And do you realize what Ellioon is?

يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ ٢١
[83:21]
Those who are close will witness it.

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ ٢٢
[83:22]
Indeed the righteous will be in absolute bliss.

عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ ٢٣
[83:23]
On luxurious furnishings, they behold.

تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ٢٤
[83:24]
You will recognize in their faces the joy of bliss.

يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ ٢٥
[83:25]
Their thirst will be quenched with drinks mixed with nectar.

خِتَـٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌ وَفِى ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَ ٢٦
[83:26]
Its spice will be musk. This is what the seekers should seek.

وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ ٢٧
[83:27]
And it will have a mixture from a heavenly spring.

عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ ٢٨
[83:28]
A spring from which the close ones drink.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَضْحَكُونَ ٢٩
[83:29]
Indeed those who were guilty used to laugh at the faithful

وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ ٣٠
[83:30]
And whenever they passed by them, they poked fun.

وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ ٣١
[83:31]
And when they returned to their families, they treated them disrespectfully.

وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ ٣٢
[83:32]
And whenever they saw them, they said; these have really lost their way.

وَمَآ أُرْسِلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ حَـٰفِظِينَ ٣٣
[83:33]
And they have not been sent any guards.

فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ ٣٤
[83:34]
However, today the faithful laugh at the unfaithful.

عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ ٣٥
[83:35]
On luxurious furnishings, they behold.

هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ ٣٦
[83:36]
Should the unfaithful not be requited for what they did?
